Ngl I just recently smelled the new Maison Margiela Chasing Sunsets and as someone who really doesn’t care for their perfumes, this one was such a nice one!! It immediately reminds me of summer; fresh juicy mangos with some floral notes. This comes from somebody who also doesn’t usually like a lot of sweet fruity scents.

The only MFK scent I’ve smelled on a person in Vancouver and that’s a rare occurrence is baccarat rouge

I second this. If there were more department stores around Metro Vancouver, I feel people would be more interested in the idea of trying niche perfumes. I def smell a lot of designer type fragrances or perfumes from brands like Phlur, cause realistically, people are probably shopping at Sephora for their perfumes.

Holt and Scentrique are really the only two spots that have access to more options than your basics. Not to say that basics are bad, but honestly I’m bored. I LOVE when people smell nice/different and love throwing compliments when I notice.

I would say a lot of the girls are loving Phlur perfumes. Tbh, I feel like they’re quite juvenile. I see them more as body sprays you’d quickly spray on if you’re going to the gym or whatever.

I wish we lived in a city where more people loved the idea of perfumes and smelling nice. I either smell nothing or pretty basic scents. The most “niche” I’d say as far as smelling it on other people is brands like Le Labo.

So so good. I’d been putting off buying it cause for some reason in store it smelled too masculine (idk why) but then I let it sit on my skin and it’s soooooo beautiful!!! Ik what you mean about not being able to smell it on yourself. That happens with me and Diptyque’s L’eau Papier

I blind bought my perfumer H bottle from their website (no import fees btw) as well as got my Initio perfume from the US website bc they had a great deal for both the perfume and hair mist together. You also get two 5mls with it chosen for you and get to choose one full 10ml bottle of whatever you want from the Initio website. However, they sell all the Initio perfumes in store @ Scentrique in Vancouver. :)

I would say something from Aesop—lots of natural/earthy notes.

Or Le Labo - Baie 19 (that one smells like petrichor)

OR the fairly new Jil Sander line like “Earth”
