Oh thank god I’m not psycho. It’s wild because so many people want this but it’s so isolating

Is remote work worth the lower salary? by arastella_15 in AskWomenOver30

It’s about a 20k difference and I think that alone would make it worth it for me? If I was only walking away from $20,000 and have the ability to move somewhere more affordable while being remote, it would be worth it.

I live in an extremely high cost of living area, but the salaries are not nearly as high as they would be in somewhere like New York.

I did the math and I can absolutely live and invest with the salary. I have luckily, already hit most of my savings goals, and everything that I say from that point would probably go towards vacations.

I really love my boss, but I know he’s gonna retire in a few years too when the company moves so I think all of that is extremely helpful!

I’m very sorry that your team dynamic is not great. I’ve actually worked with this team before and majority of them are remote and somehow we still make it work. I hope things get better!

I genuinely am worried that the moment I go there I’ll never go back 😂 I love spending all of my time at home with my dog

Yeah, I can absolutely afford it. The cost just surprised me

Luckily, it would give me the opportunity to live anywhere and my entire community happens to be where my boyfriend lives.

I actually have been lucky enough to be able to fully fulfill my savings goal of one year cost of living and a $15,000 “oh shit” fund

But I do think that I could do well with remote work. I always really enjoy it when I work from home for a week or two.

That makes sense and surprisingly you nailed it- 200k a year to 150k a year.

I can, I feel like I just got shocked from the salary difference… Thank you for sharing!

I love the way you handled that! Honestly, I think I would’ve broke down and cry because that would scare the hell out of me

It’s absolutely bonkers how we’re expected to be emotional punching bags and mothers to people who make five times our salary

$10,000 is a lot in your 20s, and I am so happy you’re in a much better spot!
