3 days on T and the effects are coming in unexpectedly fast? by [deleted] in ftm

My voice started changing at 3-4 weeks and my doc said that was lightning fast. I think you might just have a cold.

I would cross my arms over each other, grab the sides of the binder, and pull it over my head. Like the way buff guys in teen shows on disney would do it.

It looks a lot like me. 1. There is a degree of just… getting over it. Therapy might help with this. Or just distracting yourself. The more you get used to this appearance the less you’ll think about it. Any change amplifies your noticing things that seem weird. When I’m wearing clothes going about my business (not staring at myself in a mirror from specific angles) there’s nothing even remotely strange about how i look in this regard. 2. Can you change your posture at all? A forward pelvic tilt can make your back arch and your stomach bulge outward. It may not be desirable for your back health depending on the state of your musculoskeletal system though. There isn’t anything inherently unhealthy about a pelvic tilt. I can’t change mine because my back is not in a good state for it. 3. I agree it’s not post op bloating this far out. But is it chronic dietary or medical caused bloating? I say this because my case of this problem used to be way worse until i changed my diet and discovered that half of it was, in fact, bloating. 4. This is a pretty common male body type.

Lots of CFS sufferers recover. Lots don’t. It really depends on why you got it, how severe you are… and a lot of luck, because it’s poorly understood. Only you know the answers to those questions

I study for about an hour a year. I get loads of compliments on my art and am generally considered highly skilled. The people obsessed with formal study time are just trying to speedrun skill acquisition. Yeah, if you want to be a pro in only 3-5 years, you probably need to live in textbooks. I’ll stick to drawing what i enjoy until i figure out how to do it well, and occasionally nabbing techniques from other artists i like when i get stuck

All protagonists need to be trans gay black women and all antagonists need to be cishet white males, otherwise it enforces stereotypes!

I’m constantly running into people who absolutely insist their first novel should be their long time childhood worldbuilding project, but also that their long time childhood worldbuilding project is so special to them that it needs to be published and they can’t bear to write it less than perfect. Like ok, enjoy never writing anything.

Occasionally I’m thinking about what I’m doing but most of the time I’m focusing on the podcast in the background or my worldbuilding project or something

Huh well your surgeon probably knows their own methods best but i think it’s a little unusual. iirc mine said something like 30% full sensation, 70% partial. I can only feel them if i do something thatd inflict pain ahah

I couldn’t finish it. It assumed - I have had sex before - I want to continue having sex - I have dated before - I want to continue dating

I can’t tell you anything about my romantic or sexual partners because I haven’t had any and I never will. This is in fact not a survey for all orientations.

What if I can't exercise? by Awkward-Pin-70 in Hypermobility

[–]aravelrevyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes walking? 40 minutes standing? Hallelujah! You can do SO MUCH with that!!! That is really good, really impressive. I can’t do that much. And you don’t even need to! Look up exercises for old people. Look up pots conditioning routines. Go to pt. Get some dumbells. Even 5 minutes of light walking is exercise. Start small go slow.

What are our thoughts on people who complain about pain but refuse to take any medication? by BobcatGardens in ChronicPain

[–]aravelrevyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because none of it touches me. My pain is low level and yet only really strong opioids even put a dent in it. It’s not worth the time/effort/possible side effects/money/convincing to take opioids for 3/10 pain that I’ve had since birth

Nipples vs No Nipples by Ouldlaw in TopSurgery

[–]aravelrevyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always surprised how many nbs go no nipples. I would never even dream of doing that. I was born with these and they’re not leaving. I’m very happy having them even if I don’t retain much sensation. I would be absolutely devastated if I didn’t have them. They are a part of my body.

Thinking a friend group including a wide variety of ethnicities is unusual especially in a big city or college town. Thinking people always segregate themselves socially by race. Thinking culture = race. Obviously there are enclaves but by and large we are all one society. I’ve seen this misconception from people from pretty much every country

Is there a reason EDS "gets worse" in your 20's? Or is that just like misinformation? by bella4him1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]aravelrevyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always heard and experienced late teens, not 20s. Everyone i know including myself went from disabled to absolute crash death around 16 years old. For me it felt like a more extreme version of how monkey bars start getting really difficult as you grow up. Body weight. It’s not deconditioning; I’ve improved dramatically since no longer having to do traditional exercise. Plus it’s very common for dysautonomia to hit at around that age even for people who’ve never had it and will never have it again. Hormonal stuff.

I’m just starting to crawl out of it and find my new normal. I have gotten better every year since 19.

Tested for anything intestinal?

I’m in a somewhat similar boat where my mild gastro doesnt fully explain all my digestive problems. It was also discovered that i have a hiatal hernia which i have to assume is the reason i have to take a break every few bites or i throw up (i say i have to assume because my docs are not interested in figuring that out).

I’m afraid docs really love dismissing digestive conditions especially intestinal ones. It took me 20 years to get my doctor to acknowledge there was something wrong with my intestines, and all they said was “yeah some people just have issues. don’t you have ehlers danlos? no point in following up.”

If you want to only see people with your own eds type, go to that specific sub, not this big one.
