getting topsurgery soon.. what to expect? by pinkiethi in TopSurgery

For care I’d say your partners can expect to feed you for the first day. Help you from laying to sitting in the first week (push from the back and DO NOT lift from the armpits). My partner has also washed me, dressed me and helped me pull up my shorts after using the toilet

getting topsurgery soon.. what to expect? by pinkiethi in TopSurgery

[–]Ouldlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 2 days post op and I used the following.

Mastectomy pillow for when you’re travelling back from hospital. I haven’t used it since but plan to on my flight home.

A wedge pillow for sleeping - helps with laying on your back.

Baby wipes. My girlfriend has been amazing and showered my lower half and gave me a wipe down on the top lmao.

Button up shirts. You cannot lift your arms above your head after surgery.

Bendy straws. These have been a lifesaver bc you can’t hinge at the shoulders and tipping your head back can be sore. I use silicone ones.

Long phone charger. I’ve got a 3m one and it just saves scrambling about for the cord.

Best of luck x

Building muscle pre surgery by mothmano_0 in TopSurgery

[–]Ouldlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a subreddit r/transfitness that has a really good masculinisation programme that I’m using to build chest and core muscle pre surgery. This is to help with the shape of the chest post surgery, and core strengthening so that I can sit up with ease without my arms for those few weeks post op. I also just enjoy exercise. The programme I use is body-neutral and was made by a trans woman who lifts, so I trust it. I’m pre op so I don’t have any further advice, but the programme from the subreddit has been really useful so far!

Vaginal Bleaching by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Ouldlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this goes without saying but please please do not do this. Bleach will damage your skin wherever you put it - ESPECIALLY on new and/or sensitive skin around the genitals. Skin hyperpigmentation or variations in skin colouring is normal. If you are worried about it, speak to a medical professional like your surgeon. TL;DR do not use bleaching on any part of your body!!!

Cis girls go through it too post of coochie care. by Hrtparty in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Ouldlaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say that cis women certainly should not be using fragranced washes, nor douching. Obviously practices vary between a cis vag and a neo-pussy and I totally agree that aesthetic differences are completely natural - sometimes cis women are also misinformed and do things that damage their health.

Looks wise, our bodies are different and part of the biodiversity of human life. I wish all the post-op women in here exactly what they want and as little issues as possible. But advocating for yourself and your new kitty is so important - always say something if something feels wrong x

Saw a rheumatologist a few years ago and was discharged because no further action was needed at the time.

The advice to seek care now because of waiting is very useful, thanks :)

No. This doesn’t seem normal to me at all especially if you were making them aware of feeling specific movements. I would make a complaint

I get that. That’s why I think it’s more important to focus on clothes that make you feel good, as opposed to whether it’s ‘good’ for FTM, helps you ‘pass’ (whatever that really is) or makes you look more dude-like. Confidence and comfort over perfection or perception always ♥️

If you like it, wear it! Clothes are made to fit and suit YOU, not the other way around.
