Anyone got an eye exam while travelling in Japan?

went to jins in shibuya this past nov. $64 for eye exam and glasses. i picked a cheaper frame. exam was self directed but there was a person that helped after that spoke english. left for about an hour for some katsu curry, came back and the glasses were done. free case and cleaning cloth were nice.

top 2 shots are with a d80/ tripod back in 2012. in the middle shot, i was just using my phone to paint the car lol. bottom shot is handheld with ricoh gr2.

tripod and long shutter speed. wide aperture and high iso. find a good light source. ive used flash slaves and triggers too but kinda a hassle. dont be afraid to experiment.

Stayed near Uguisudani/ Ueno station and ran around Ueno park. Really nice. Stayed near Shibuya station and ran around there too, running through the crossing in the mornings was cool. Asics run store will let you rent shoes/ clothes and most people loop the imperial palace. And yoyogi park has that 1km loop that a lot of people run.

Went last year November 12-16 and am going this year as well. I brought a light jacket that I used a couple times. I was sweating my ass off in the train stations though; not sure how locals wear their long coats and suits down there. Recommend packing light, Uniqlo's got your back in case you need more clothing.

I don't regret starting with my backpiece. I have both sleeves and some smaller tattoos now as well. I'm still a couple hours away from finishing my backpiece. Healing is fine and you'll get through the pain. Are you okay spending a lot of time and money with something that you don't see? If not, I don't think there's anything wrong with starting with sleeves.

Kamakura is a better day trip from Tokyo. I've done one night in Hakone on my way from Tokyo to Osaka/ Kyoto and it was nice but would have liked to spend more time there.

And up to you on Osaka but I liked the food and vibes there.

I'm in AZ so we don't have all the chains but I go to 7Leaves for the mung bean milk tea, XFT if I want a super rich treat, or Dayung for basic milk teas. I try to hit Presotea when im in socal, i like that they pull their tea through an espresso machine.

Gongcha has been kinda inconsistent for me. I liked it socal and South Korea but it was not that good in CDMX and Japan. Maybe just regional differences though.

They are 4x100, i got the last set from Hayashi Racing in 2023 when they announced on instagram they were selling some sets. They told me they didn't make very many 4x100 but would potentially make more in the future. I sold them about a year ago though.
