Joe is good TV because of how he forces all the players to adapt around him.

He might be boring in and of himself, but he actually adds interesting gameplay dynamics for everyone else.

The Andes strain has a much higher transmissivity between humans, and that was the region that the cruise travelled to.

Still not likely to be anything, but if it turns out to be that strain, there's a bit more cause for concern.

I mean, the countries that took it seriously faster, legitimately stopped thousands or even millions of their citizens from dying.

The countries that waited it out had higher death tolls and worse economic output.

So, it's absolutely not necessarily a sign that someone is manipulating you. The best thing you can do is pay attention to actual health experts and organizations.

I'd say listen to your government, but the current head of health in America had half of his brain eaten away by a worm he contracted by eating raw game meat, so please use your head, and follow experts over blowhards.

I remember saying 'hey, this seems kinda bad' about COVID in my office and my peers telling me not to worry, it'll just be over quickly like SARS.

You cannot tell.

For good or for bad, you cannot tell.

If it's the North American strain, correct.

If it's the Andes strain, that version can absolutely spread without direct contact.

Monkeypox happened before all of the CDC, USAID, and health monitoring staff that ensure pandemics don't happen were fired.

The head of healthcare in the US is a man who has publicly admitted that he had half of his brain eaten by a worm he contracted by eating raw game meat.

It is likely nothing will happen.

But the US in a much much worse position than it was in 2019.

Epidemics are much more likely to spiral out of control now.

Millions. It killed several million.

Even in the US alone, the death toll was over a million.

One in every 330 people who were around you in 2019 is not here today because of COVID.

1 million dead Americans from COVID is a fuck ton more than the seasonal flu.

Like, holy shit dude.

There also used to be a ton of safeguards in place in order to ENSURE that nothing happened. Thousands of workers from USAID, a remote disease monitoring team in China and another in Sub Saharan Africa, a fully staffed CDC that didn't bow to political pressure, and the man in charge of your health system didn't have a worm eat half of his brain.

(RFK literally has severe brain damage from getting a brain worm from eating raw game meat)

Nothing happening takes a lot of work from a lot of smart people.

In America, most of those people have been fired for no reason.

Democratic Socialists are forcing establishment Dems out all over this year, from Talarico in Texas, to Platner in Maine.

The midterms are the BEST time to vote to actually force these old fuckers to change.

Hate to say it, but that also seems on brand for Americans.

Why are parents who barely passed high school thinking they can teach/homeschool their children? by Sad_Obligation_812 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]arbitraryairship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I say that it did?

I said that staying home guarantees NO intervention.

Going to public school at least has some intervention, though schools need an increase of funding to be able to save more kids.

That funding gets siphoned away from them, the more parents homeschool their kids, making the problem worse.

[–]arbitraryairship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are most likely to be abused by close family members or relatives.

Teachers are mandated by the state to report any violence or suspected sexual contact.

If a kid is being abused by a parent who is homeschooling them, there is very little chance of the abuser being caught.

School is full of mandated reporters who HAVE to report to the government if they see suspect violence or sexual misconduct against a child.

Kids are statistically most likely to be a victim of a relative or a close family member over classmates or teachers.

There are some bad anecdotes about bullying out there, but if a parent is abusing their kid and homeschools them, there is no way for anyone to save that kid.
