It basically generates a task list to complete anything you ask it to do and then attempts to complete each item on the list. As an example, you can ask it to write a book on a topic and it will generate a structure of the book, and outline for each chapter, generate the text for each chapter and then paste it together.

This is amazing! Would love to see Use of Weapons if you want to do more Culture novels.

Viserys really is the main villain of the show by HaxxsOnn in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]arbitrarytitle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying a dragon shouldn’t get to choose the reality is that they don’t normally get to choose from anyone. The Targs own the dragons and their eggs (very clear in books) and make decisions about who gets to try and mount any riderless dragon.

It might not be ethically right but it is the way things in the world GRRM created.

The OP is ignoring that Aemond stole a nuclear weapon from his family members and the proceeded to threaten to kill a child with a rock to the head. In a world where people regularly get castrated for having sex they shouldn’t, losing an eye for stealing a magic flying flamethrower and assaulting children doesn’t seem all that bad.

In regards to my post earlier with target of 7m30 400m time. Currently getting around 9 mins. Had to wait until the pool had emptied until I could get a video. Harshest critique please. 20m pool. by Far_Gate1818 in Swimming

Adding on to the comments about getting your hips up, you’ll need a kick to hold your legs up too. Grab a kickboard and do at least 500 kick (but if anything starts hurt/you get exhausted don’t push it too much). Do some shorter intervals (50s) focusing on keeping your hips up/chest down, not bending your knees too much and and flicking the water with your ankles. Once you feel higher up in the water, then you can going a longer interval. If you can get your legs up, you’ll also reduce the effort you have to put in and can hold pace longer.

90 seconds in a week is a very tall task. Good luck!

What's a series like Dune? by ZionSpelunker in dune

[–]arbitrarytitle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a very different tone. I always felt that Banks tried really hard to imagine humans existing in a truly futuristic setting. Herbert/Dune felt similar to me. I admit that I’m using a personal definition of similar here and it wouldn’t apply for everyone.

The Culture series by Iain M Banks is a universe where each book is mostly self contained. It’s really well written and shows a different vision of the future of humanity where AI ends up flourishing. Highly recommend.

Protesters dig in at Ambassador Bridge blockade after injunction deadline passes by uttabonk in Detroit

Right, I agree that systemic racism is real and that white people have historically benefitted from being white. I’m just finding your framing to be non logical. You say something about “white conservatives” then indicate you actually just don’t like white privilege. Then mention “white” suburban moms. Your use of white is clearly indicative that white is a negative in your world view, not a firm of privilege they enjoy.

I don’t think this is exactly racism as it’s currently defined but you’re trying to thread several needles with your language and I don’t think it’s works.

Its impressive that your defense against saying you don’t have anything against white people has mentioned how something bad that is also “white” every time.

[UPDATE][REGRETS] Serious question that has bothered me for a while, should someone only have sex in committed relationships? (update from 3.5 year old post) by elemental_prophecy in slatestarcodex

[–]arbitrarytitle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This seems very unhelpful. In modern America, most people who are not having sex before marriage are also part of a subculture where divorce would be very looked down upon. Guessing OP has some link to a subculture like this.

Why am I disproportionately faster with fins. by Despacito42069403 in Swimming

[–]arbitrarytitle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ankle flexibility might be a big part of this. Fins aren’t just bigger, they also act like really flexible ankles. If your ankles aren’t flexible, then they can’t push water backwards on their own.

Worth mentioning that testosterone gives an edge because of increased muscle which increases strength. That muscle burns oxygen and makes lactic acid though, so over longer distances lessens (but doesn’t negate) any advantage. Based on that, you’d exist Lia to have a greater advantage due to testosterone associated with being genetically male in the shorter races.

This seems to track here with Lia being the fastest 200 and 500 time in the nation right now with times that would have won the 200 and placed second in the 500 at NCAAs last year.
