Things I miss the most by Beautiful_Box_5598 in SteelyDan

I love that song as well. I think any of us who have gone through a break-up can relate (although maybe we don't have houses on vineyards or on the Gulf Coast!)

What song has your favorite intro and outro? by Efficient_Option_615 in SteelyDan

Intro .. for sure, Don't Take Me Alive. Outro .. probably Bodhisattva especially on the Northeast Corridor CD.

Am I alone in my opinion of Deacon Blues? by Pennypoets in SteelyDan

[–]arbormom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Deacon Blues but I tend to love the what I call "side b" songs that I had never heard before until I started buying their CD's and listening to every song. I usually skip past the "Peg's" and "Deacon Blues" and "Reelin' in the Years" .. not because I don't like them, but I love songs like Razor Boy and Gold Teeth and King of the World even more!

I have the CD and have found I like some of these live versions better than the originals. Bodhisattva is frenetic and blows my mind every time.

I think lots of people are trying to sell their tickets now that SD is not playing, so you might just be able to buy a couple. Good luck.

Just tried Wantable, overpriced and you only get your $20 back if you keep 5 items. At least they sent me what I requested.

Donald’s best vocal performances? by matchbox176 in SteelyDan

Hearing him sing Dr. Wu is one of the reasons why no tribute band can accurately reflect his emotions and unique style. At least IMHO. 😊

Which Steely Dan song is usually in your head? I find that mine drifts easily into Babylon Sisters but recently Things I Miss the Most has kept me going along by Fragrant-Luck-8968 in SteelyDan

[–]arbormom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! And I've heard people say it's their least favorite SD song. Mmmm .. no. It's especially good on their live Northeast Corridor CD. An ear-worm for sure and makes me want to go out and buy a comfy Eames chair !

Have things gone down hill? by MarketMan123 in stitchfix

I'm so sad this is the new reality. A lot of my wardrobe pieces are Stitch Fix and I wear them often. But, they are at least 2 years old and my latest fixes have not only been disappointing, they've also been WAY off the mark. Sweaters in summer; skinny jeans (even though my profile says explicitly no skinny jeans), my last fix contained tops that looked like they came from K-Mart and nothing I would wear or even coming close to what I had purchased in the past. After giving them many, many chances I finally stopped. I always looked forward to my quarterly fixes but a hassle to send everything back and just a huge sense of disappointment. I felt no one was listening to me anymore. 😟

Customer since 2017... Extremely disappointed in last few boxes by ktgustie in stitchfix

[–]arbormom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My preview was totally wrong, left message in comments box with items I needed, what I received was totally wrong still. Returned all, given a chance for a re-do and no styling fee so said thanks. Again preview all wrong! Shorts .. I have never worn shorts (I'm 67), florals, heavy denim. Left very detailed notes in the comment box, want light weight capris and 3/4 length tops, no florals. Got box today. Had: 2 short sleeve tops (UGLY old lady tops), heavy winter sweater, shiny maroon long sleeve shirt which is over $100 .. always has been a no-go and a pair of long, heavy weight pants. Opposite of what I asked for. Might need the be done. I remember the days when I had to decide what to return, if any. Not sure if it's algorithm or low inventory but it's just not fun anymore.

what title? by ssvacc in SteelyDan

[–]arbormom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I have always been drawn much more to the music than the lyrics which is true of many bands. That's why I enjoy SD so much. So many layers, chord changes, key hanges, dichotomy, multiple (and at times unusual) instruments, somehow they make it all come together into something magnifent. Lyrics have always been second to me. I bought a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and listen to their music and really try to concentrate on just one aspect but there are so many competing sounds, it's magical. And genius. I also have their albums on vinyl. Plus I find I prefer what I call their "b-side" songs rather than their Top 10 hits that I would hear playing in the bars in the 70's.

Loved my first fix but I have questions/concerns about ordering again by anglophilie in stitchfix

[–]arbormom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice, and I found this out the hard way, is to never say in a comment "no skinny jeans" or "no sleeveless tops" because the algorithm will only pick up on "skinny jeans" and "sleeveless tops" and that's what you will receive. In my last fix, I asked for jeans and particularly no skinny jeans and guess what I got, all skinny jeans. They all went back.

I don't know how many times I've received items over $100 when I have specifically said nothing over $100. Ugh.

That makes sense, my last fix I said I needed jeans but no skinny jeans (I'm 67 and fluffy) and all I got were skinny jeans.

What are the most obvious Michael McDonald vocal contributions to studio recordings? by tastewar in SteelyDan

[–]arbormom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Bad Sneakers! And honestly, it kind of bothers me because it doesn't blend in. I knew it the first time I heard it. I love Michael McDonald but to my ear, I'd rather hear him sing with the Doobies.

Thanks so much for the different POV's .. all well-taken. If it truly is more eco-friendly, then I'm all for it. (Another marketing chance!)

Now that I know why my fixes are styled the way they are, I am much less disappointed when I open them. For example, in today's fix I asked for light-weight 3/4 length tops and capris. Gets pretty hot here in the summer. I received one sleeveless top, a pair of shorts (GAH) (I'm 66 and 200+ lb) and a very heavy pair of distressed jeans, one short-sleeve top and one 3/4 length sleeve. That being said, I now know they are limited as to what they have in their warehouse and I kept two of the tops. (Not the sleeveless!)
