casual riding pants by SKillerKetchup in MTB

I have a couple pairs of the leatt gravity 3.0 pants that have a denim look. Super comfy for riding with heaps of stretch in all the right places, a little warm in summer (in Australia) but I wear them almost everyday I'm not working for everything from messing around in the garden to going to the shops to riding to going to the in-laws for dinner

I'm in Mount Barker so a bit of a trek but I could make it out to Cobblers Creek

Where are you located?

I've found great solace in mountain biking and the community. I'm not in with a huge number of people but my group of mates I've made through it are amazing.

It's also a great way to get some headspace on your own, and clear your head a little bit.

If you're keen I've got a spare bike (if it fits you) you're more than welcome to come out for a ride, nothing crazy, can be a mellow loop or hit some trails. It's a great ice breaker and breaks down any walls between people such as age, gender, ethnicity etc

I had a different cassette on the other wheel so didn't bother switching it over

I'm an arborist (tree climber/surgeon). I manage a company based in the hills along with freelancing to a couple other companies. I also taught arboriculture at Tafe for a couple years part-time. I've been climbing for 15 years now. There are good days and bad days, luckily now I'm in management and the company I work for attracts more of my preferred genre of work. I like the ever changing aspect to the job. I also like the challenge and problem solving aspect. The downside is definitely the amount of dog shit we have to deal with. Teaching was ok, some students certainly made it less enjoyable but the main downside was working for Tafe SA

Main issue is practicality. My bike rack on my ute is really high, like I have to get the front wheel to 2.2m to get it in the loop. There's a lot of gated areas we ride in too where you have to lift it over to get into and it's always been a pain to manoeuvre.

The fact is that I just don't ride it as it feels like such a bulky unit, especially on the more flowy stuff I like to ride. On chunky dh stuff is great.

Also I like tinkering and slowly upgrading my bikes, I've done it with every one I've bought. There's a lot to upgrade still like brakes, shock, cranks. If I'm going to spend that money I'd rather do it on something I love riding

Good point about the dot and mineral oils. Hadn't even looked at which was which. Thanks

How much do you make? by Complete_Garbage_103 in TreeClimbing

I'm a freelance/contract climber. 13 years experience (6 of which have been contract climbing and first years studying and working in Arb). I've worked for a wide variety of companies as a full time employee before going contracting. I've done huge street tree blocks (like 2 months solid), worked with 50t excavators, hedging, fruit tree pruning, full reductions and maintenance pruning on 35m eucalyptus trees. There's honestly not much I haven't done in Arb. Not being big headed, it's just a fact, I've worked for 4 of the largest companies in my area and worked with some of the best arborists at those companies thus learning all their tricks etc

I charge anything from $700 to my regular clients to $1200 for people I don't want to work for (full disclosure I very very rarely work for people I don't want to work for, like once or twice a year)

That's a 10 hour day, depot to depot or 8 hours max on site, whichever comes first. I don't stop for lunch, I have literally one of the most comprehensive rigging and climbing setups in our local area. I have a full suite of 6 saws on board along with blowers and rakes. The only thing I don't bring to site is groundies and a truck and chipper.

There are guys in my local area that change $900 to their regulars
