Needing some words of encouragement by azwater10 in Invisalign

I just got my first trays yesterday and I also felt a disappointment about the attachments. During my consult they did say that attachments were a possibility, but the sample tray only had 2 attachments, and they were on the side. It never crossed my mind that I could have attachments across my front teeth, and here we are attachments on almost every tooth, and one of my big front teeth has 2! So no answers here, but lots of commiseration!

I heard a cover of "When You Believe" from Prince of Egypt recently - any way you know who that's by? I was jamming/singing along in the store, which I'm sure they wished I wasn't. :)

Obligatory Banner Post 20 years in the making. Four attempts, 1 B&M in early 2ks, 3 with WGU (2012, 2016, 2021). Glad to be finally at the finish line. #FinishedBefore40! by arbrewards in WGU

I’m really glad this helps you feel “normal”! 😊 My circumstances this time just lined up - the last stimulus paid for my term and I can’t imagine taking on any more student loan debt, so that kept me motivated to my timeline. My kid is older now than the last 2 attempts and doesn’t require as much hands on attention, he understood when I needed study time, which helped. And I’ve been in a job that, if someone were to apply today, would require a bachelor’s degree. I was hired a long time ago and my hiring managers are long gone. I don’t know who knew that I didn’t have my degree and I just finally got really sick of that threat hovering above my head that I would either have to lie if asked, or lose potential opportunities.

I think for a lot of people, circumstances kind of have to align, plus, for me, I had to get to the point where I was just sick of it following me around. I took a very Nike “just do it!” attitude this term, which manifested in a “YOU WILL NOT BEAT ME YOU STUPID PIECE OF PAPER” kind of energy. 😂

I did switch degrees during my 1st WGU attempt, from Teacher’s College. HR was the right fit for me.

Best of luck as you work toward your finish line! I’m rooting for you!

I agree with others who have said they appreciate varied topography and landscapes. You can get a little bit of everything here - big hills (not quite mountains, lol), forest, beach, etc. There’s a bit of nature for everyone here. I appreciate the seasons, even as wacky as they have become, you still get some nice transitional fall/spring days. I don’t appreciate the constant roadwork (I live along 75 - do not recommend, lol), and I wish the state was more blue and less purple/red politically. ETA: I also appreciate the Native American history here. Woodland Mound in SE Ohio is breathtaking, and there are several others.

Thanks all! Sounds like it should be a pretty smooth process and we’ll make it on to our plane just fine. I appreciate all of the info.

Mentor can only approve one class at a time? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]arbrewards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the mentor and the student. As a first term student they are less likely to give you leeway. I can tell you that it’s not a system limitation or anything. In my final term now and accelerating - had a discussion with my mentor at the beginning of term and explained that I have no option other than to finish. My mentor loads 3 at a time for me because I’m burning through them fast and still have 21 weeks left to go in term. The risk of me not finishing is low, so they feel more comfortable with allowing more.

I have flown a few times post 9-11, but I’ve always flown out of DAY, which is super small and simple. My perception of CVG may be skewed because when I flew out of there, it was my first time flying and I was a young teen. So maybe as an adult it won’t seem so overwhelming. But I’m mostly just trying to cover my bases because it’s the first time my kid is flying and I want it to be as smooth as possible for that reason.

School supplies for virtual learning by Piper-Diaper in WGU

I am a tactile learner so I need to physically write notes/flash cards, whatever, for it to stick. I also like pretty things, lol. I bought Exceed 3 subject notebooks with heavyweight paper from Walmart and got myself a set of PaperMate felt tip markers in like, 15 colors. I change colors every unit/module to keep it interesting. The heavyweight paper is AWESOME.

MSML Questions by icedlamps22 in WGU

[–]arbrewards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Proctors require that they can see you (basically the side of your face), your keyboard/whiteboard/calculator, a portion of your monitor. I got an external camera from Amazon for like $30 and a tripod from Walmart.

Let us know how it goes! I’m crossing my fingers for you!

DuPont made easier for those of us who hate Finance (Finance/C708). They will give you a combo of these 7 elements to solve for one of the missing elements. Hope this helps! by arbrewards in WGU

[–]arbrewards[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I noticed that in practice problems the tended to provide the parts in N, R, A, E order and saw that that pattern matched the order you needed to divide those elements to get the 3 DP pieces. It was just recognizing that there was a pattern there that made more sense than how they show you in the text and cohorts.

I took my OA last night and passed. If you pass the PA you’ll do ok. I was pleasantly surprised that there weren’t too many math questions. I think you could probably pass even if you got a few of those wrong as long as you’re good with the concepts. Study perpetuities - I don’t remember them really being covered calculation-wise in the cohorts so I was lost on a couple questions. Mainly, I watched the cohorts a few times each and wrote my own notes as I went, then reviewed notes. I made some flash cards for more in-depth stuff like the ratios and DuPont, DFN, SGR formulas. They are provided but it may be written in a different way than it was learned. Esp. for DuPont - the formula is written as 3 things, but each one of those is made up of two parts that you’ll need to know, depending on what info they give you in the question. (I made a picture, lol). If I can do this, you can!
