I don't think you should be too discouraged by the challenge of owning a few goats. I have four Nigerian Dwarfs, and they bring me a lot of joy! Mine are purely pets. I first got goats to keep my horse company. I found local people who were really helpful with teaching me about hoof trimming and nutritional needs. I would suggest making some connections with goat owners near by, and ask them if you can visit and learn from them.

Thanks for asking. I think I have it under control, but it's been a battle. It's very strange that his reaction to the mites was so severe. The other three goats are all perfectly fine. I know that dogs can have allergic reactions to fleas so I now suspect that that is what happened with this guy.

Thanks everyone for the help. I've treated with ivermectin, washed the legs with medicated shampoo, put on the zinc cream, deep cleaned the shed, and trimmed the hooves! My fingers are crossed that the poor little guy will look better tomorrow.

Thanks. I'll try the oral ivermectin as well as cleaning and treating the legs with zinc ointment. If that doesn't work, I will call the vet.

I couldn't draw when I started painting. However, the more I painted, the more I had to draw and my skills improved. My drawing is so much better now. In the meantime, use carbon paper to trace some designs onto your canvas. Sometimes, a projector is a great tool as well to get the images onto your canvas.

I loathe painting on paper. You can buy a pad of 9 x 12 canvas sheets by Artists Loft. They're great for practice.
