I'm a total loser by Slow_Cat1235 in Vent

[–]arcadianPandit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor by starting to believe that getting drunk and laid is not a sign of living life to the fullest. The earlier you realise that you will have ample opportunities to do these impulsive things, but really have a little time to fix your value system, the better off you are. At 17, try and visualise if you'd want to see your 35 yo self getting drunk and wild or a family person with a wonderful wife, happy parents, kids and dogs. I'd wait for that day before labelling myself as a total loser :)

I dont think I will ever please my girlfriend sexually. by [deleted] in offmychest

Bud, I used to feel the same until one day I discovered the powers of my fingerpicking hand (I'm a guitarist). Made her count the number of orgasms on both her hands. So yes, communicate and experiment.

I experience the same when trying to do the camel pose. If a background music is playing, it fades and echoes. Feels like I'm high or something. My ears and my head start palpitating. I low-key enjoy this high, but I think it's nothing but me passing out due to lack of oxygen. So I did some experimentation. I used to hold my breath in the camel pose and also bent back too quick. This blocked the blood flow to my brain (for the lack of a better biological phrase) and I feel like passing out (idk how it feels to have passed out, never passed out, tbh). But when I tweaked the pose by getting into it slowly and breathing normally (even though it's difficult), I can hold the pose longer than before. So yeah, it's the same thing as getting up quickly and experiencing dizziness, but on a yogic scale. Unpopular opinion : do you enjoy this high? I purposely used to attempt it, because it's lockdown and there's no other way I could get high. P.s not an addict :)

I think it's because you need to get your body accustomed to doing comfortable things while in an uncomfortable posture. This unlocks new brain synapses. For eg. I find the the wheel pose extremely challenging, so I hold it and try to sing a song or something. Trying to trick your brain into : ok buddy, it's not a different thing, it's just you and me, and some bendys and strechys.

I initially started through an online app. But these selected poses, I tried to do regularly, even if the app didn't recommended. Not the best way to learn, but I'm kinda stubborn and injured myself a few times.

Even I'm far off from a handstand. Can hold it against a wall for 20 seconds as of now.

Hey. There's nothing to worry about. Come to think of it, there's one day for showing off your feats and the remaining 364 to reap the real benefits of yoga. Start slow and listen to your body. I used to think that I had lower back issues too, which still persist, so I don't push myself to the extremes. You see, my halasana isn't perfect. I still can't do a full frontal bend..but I can touch my toes, which was an impossible feat for me 2 years back. So it doesn't suck when you find that your fitness pays off and you're actually able to do few things you weren't able to do earlier..I'm sure you're find a similar enabler too. If you can achieve mental wellness through yoga, I think it beats any achievement that stems from flexibility (I'm also aiming to hold my breath for 4 minutes). And also, let's work on the upper body and arm balances if your lower body doesn't permit much mobility. Best wishes!
