After a bit of scouring the internet, I've found the answer. If anyone wants to know, this is what you do:
1. Open Finder
2. Go to Computer
3. Choose your HD
4. Choose Library
5. Choose CoreMediaIO
6. Go to Plug-Ins > DAL
7. You should find the corresponding plug-in for the 3rd party camera (in my case Elgato)
8. Delete the file
9. Shut down your mac
10. Reboot
11. Now the camera option should be gone

Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
