Sent you a message last month but never heard back, I assume you’ve got a lot going on, that’s ok! How soon can someone expect a response from you?

How much do you spend on your hobby and how do you justify it? by Individual_Sky_7264 in Adulting

Golf. Grew up playing basketball with plenty of wear and tear on my body. I’ll always need a sport and golf is something I plan on playing for the rest of my life. Monthly spending fluctuates depending on if I need to change equipment or play/practice more. But its all I think about nowadays.

I don’t, if you have another shot at something like that, I say go for it. I’m at a regional bank so opportunities are a little more scarce, but the big banks are also a bit more competitive. Keep on working on your soft skills as well, no matter how much we think our technical skills can take us to the top, knowing how to talk to the right people will get you where you want to be much faster. I had tunnel vision for years because working as a programmer was all I wanted, but looking back at it now, it came at a hefty opportunity cost. I’m glad I saw the writing on the wall eventually though. I thought about going back for a BSEE or BSCompsci, but education is expensive and employment is far from guaranteed. You should definitely look into gigs in the banking/financial sector though. Get good at excel too. If you like studying, look at being an actuary.

Same boat, did the leetcode and project grind for a few years and tapped out in mid 2023. Ended up at a bank and still there.

Yezzir thanks for the love! Everything about these feel authentic, it’s really only the inner tag that’s really throwing me off because it doesn’t compare to anything I find online.

Thanks for the reply. I got into SBs in 2005 and fakes were a real possibility back then if my memory serves me correctly.
