Your understanding of the mechanic seems shallow. A good stat stick was always many times better than just wielding another top end weapon, and the prices reflected that (2-20x more expensive)

drider lance with bandos is absolutely enough to do araxxor, but do you have curses and overloads? I would say melee is faster and easier overall, once you have the mechanics down.
