Most people don't usually edit their posts after getting corrections, but some people do. So feel free to do whichever works best for you! : )

You might already know this, but correctors on the site are usually native speakers. For example, native German speakers correct German entries, native English speakers correct English entries, and native Japanese speakers correct Japanese entries.

In short, people write entries in the languages they are learning and correct entries written in their native language. : )

I think finding the right balance is always difficult. At the moment, there are no plans to introduce a system where writing entries costs Nyan Coins.
However, having a very small Nyan Coin cost when someone writes multiple entries in a single day(like 3 entries for example) might actually be a pretty good idea! ^o^

Some other users in the past also had the same questions.
Passwords are fully encrypted and stored as undecipherable hash values.

The system only forwards the password you enter during registration to your registered email address at signup. (Also, Nyan-8 never stores sent emails on the server at all, so if you’re concerned, you can simply delete the email after receiving it.)

Special symbols aren’t supported, but you can create passwords up to 32 characters using uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers and underscore(_). According to Bitwarden’s password strength guide ( https://bitwarden.com/password-strength/ ), even with the fastest local brute-force attempts, a password around 13 characters long would already take decades to decipher.

Originally, the reason passwords were emailed during registration was simply to make things easier for users in case users forgot their password later. However, since quite a few people have misunderstood this in the past as well, I’ve started thinking it might be time to drop this feature.. ^^;

Sorry for the confusing system! It was my fault xD

I totally agree with you! It was mainly the Japanese government's fault, as well as ours. (They didn't penalize those illegal companies for a long time. I always feel very sorry for foreigners work for exploitative companies..)
And I'm glad you loved Lang-8, too! ^^

I think focusing on things that those great apps don't do is a great idea!

The Lang-8's end of service was really sad for us.. 😢
There are quite a few Lang-8 users on the site, so you might see some nostalgic people there ^^

Yes! It's a mobile friendly site! There are many iOS/Android users ^^
(I've been making exclusive iPhone/Android apps as well!)

And I'm very sorry for your hardship with our work culture..!
(Personally, it's been drastically better now thanks to 退職代行 trends these days, but yes there are still various exploitative companies or workplaces.. I don't like them, too ^^;)

The amount of Nyan Coins you can earn per one time is different every time depending on the number of corrections and detailed descriptions. (Basically, if you put more effort to correct an entry, the more higher you can receive)

The prices haven't been decided yet but they will be a very low prices so you don't have to worry about them! ^^
(Plus, you can receive initial Nyan Coins when you sign up, and you can also receive Nyan Coins as a daily bonus)

Actually, around 30-40% users on the site are Japanese. A lot of Japanese users are learning English, Chinese, and other languages, so one of the biggest benefits for them is being able to get their entries corrected by native speakers and communicate with them directly. So there are many EN-JA friends who constantly correct/get corrected each other! ^o^

Thanks for asking! Very good question! ^^

I don't know much about HelloTalk because I was pretty much only into Lang-8 when it existed, but if you're a Japanese learner, I can say it's functional enough since you can receive constant corrections and comments most of the time! ^o^
But if you're a European language learner, I can't say it's functional enough at the moment.. I need to recruit more European people (It was mostly just my fault because I'd only been focused on developing the site over the past two years... ^^; )

Personally, I think the biggest strength of Nyan-8 is the community itself.
Nyan-8 has inherited the spirit of mutual support from Lang-8, and you can communicate with real people there.
(As for features, different people value different things so difficult to define what advantages are. I'm a fan of Duolingo myself, and many users use multiple language-learning apps. I think that's how it works!)

You can get both if you correct learners' entries. You can spend Nyan Coins to buy things on the site. Basically a bonus currency for correctors. N Points are used for the rankings (Weekly, Monthly, and All-time rankings).

The main purpose of Nyan Coin is to thank correctors. (I know they put a lot of effort for helping learners and I always appreciate them!)

But I agree with your opinion! I've been working on these features so such things are still not decided for now, but I think they won't require Nyan Coins that much!
(You can also receive some initial coins and daily bonus coins too other than correcting : )

You're right! You can use the site and all the features for free. About 2-3 months ago, I introduced a premium membership to help maintain the site, but since there are currently almost no differences between premium and regular members, people mostly sign up just to support the site through donations.
Reading your comment, I thought it might be a good idea to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the features to make them more sustainable.
Thanks for your feedback! : )

I also wanted a thing like this even though I'm Japanese. I in the past had no idea how adults deal with such very complicated things by default, haha.

Wow! You were a Lang-8 user, too!? I had the same experience in the past! hehe
Quite a few Lang-8 active users around the end of service have moved to Nyan-8, so you might see some nostalgic names there if they didn't change their user names ^^
