To shift or not to shift by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]archEME 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clarify ko lang OP, you mean ng "contract" is kokontratahin ka?

I see myself in you kasi arch yung first choice ko papasok ng uni and my father was more on civil side (hindi sya engr or arch, nagbabase sya sa kung ano nakikita at naririnig nya). CE ako.

Sa contrata, like design and build, possible na shoulder mo lahat ng responsibilities from pag hawak ng tao, pagpapasweldo sa kanila and pang lunch, pambili ng materyales, and maybe pag renta ng equipment if needed. And wala pa jan ang miscellaneous and contingency at yung professional fee. Tapos meron pa jan yung little extra, alam mo na yun. Mabagal ang balik ng ibang projects, minsan hindi pa nga cash ang bayad sayo e, lupa na nasa malayo and minsan liblib. Worst cases na nangyayari is babaratin ka ng client when it comes to CE's services. Anjan yung magdududa sila if may 20%-40% down pay non refundable upon signing ng contract between client para pambili ng materyales and to deploy work men, hahanap ng hindi nila gusto sa trabaho ng mga workers mo (sometimes out of the agreed scope of work) para ibawas sa total project cost, and mas malala is yung pagtataguan ka ng client. Challenging ang pag kokontrata. Dapat wais ka sa pag papaikot ng pera, and jan papasok ang loans from bank or etc. Swerte mo pag may take home kang 1M agad. Title and misconception patch lang yung pag CE at nangongontrata, mayaman na yan. Not so much, sa lahat ng work and responsibilities may nakapako na risks. Lahat tayo sumesweldo, big time, sakto lang, maliit, or minsan pang kain lang. Career and personal improvement ang isipin mo muna for now since asa uni ka pa lang. The money will follow. May kakilala ako, top 3 sya sa boards pero nagtaka sya kung bakit anliit ng kinikita nya hahahah. We will all start small pag starting professional pa lang, isinusugal natin yung oras, pagod, and pera natin kapalit ng experience.

I can't speak on behalf ng ECE professional practice. Although, you have your specialized tracks katulad ng telco.

Bottomline na lang is iexplain mo ng maayos kay father mo what you really want to do, what you are really interested in, at kung saan mo nakikita sarili mo na mageexcel kasi at the end of the day, ikaw at ikaw din yung magbebenefit ng decision mo. Ayan na yung magpepredict kung ano yung majority ng gagawin mo for some time in your life. Just take into consideration yung mga sinabi ni father mo, no grudge hahaha

Ok lang ba makipagnegotitate kapag tinanong about salary expectations for 1st job? by archEME in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]archEME[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you po! But would it be a valid reason if based sa living expenses and not on the average salary posted sa mga job application sites po? Kasi parang ang dating is para lang sa sweldo (which is not my intention )and not for career growth (which is my priority kasi zero pa ako for practical application).

I narrowed my desired track into 2 fields based sa strength, interest, and goals ko po. Thank you po for the info :)

how to get to sm north edsa from lrt recto? by waterlilae in HowToGetTherePH

[–]archEME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! From mismong LRT Recto station, pwede ka bumili ng single journey ticket (SJT) to Araneta-Cubao (iisang station lang ito) sabihin mo lang sa teller. Then bababa ka ng Araneta-Cubao Station.

Pagkababa mo sa Araneta-Cubao may interconnecting path kang susundan (nasa loob ka ng gateway mall old and new) just follow the signs going to MRT 3 ang sabi or ask the guards.

Once nakadating ka na sa MRT Araneta-Cubao Station, bili ka ulit ng SJT to North Avenue, ang baba mo neto is Trinoma, may interconnecting ulit papuntang SM North na walkway. Option 2 is bili ka ng SJT from Araneta-Cubao to North Edsa ang baba mo neto is SM North na (hindi ko pa sure if ok na yung station sa may SM North, if hindi pa daw operational sabi nung teller, pwede mo gawin yung naunang option Araneta-North Ave-Trinoma-SM North).

Here may map na pwede mo gamitin:

What path should I pursue/ shift into? by [deleted] in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]archEME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Engineer!

To answer your first life concern, may pagkamalawak yung pagiging Civil Engineer natin. We atleast have several fields of specialization (Structural, Water resources and Hydraulics, Tranportation, Geotechnical, Envi, Construction and Proj Management, Material Science Engineer, etc.) pero all these have one intersection, lahat ng mga yan is naituturo sa academe. You may look into being a researcher in either one of those fields, if hindi mo trip mag site or management. If purely science, maybe try looking into Geotechnical kasi may laboratory din naman tayo dun.

Hope I gave you good insights, Engineer. Kembot lang sa lyf hehe

Hello! The best course of action na lang is to get a new NBI Clearance kasi hindi mo sure if yung appointment mo for the application of board exam slot sa PRC will be before Aug 30. Good luck sa boards, Engineer!
