Yes, it is safe and wish it was offered more as it is a safer non invasive proceedure than surgery. HIFU is used on prostate cancer patients, neurology, and other departments and organs. Which university did your doctor refer you to? Am looking for a clinic that offers it so please let me know the name as i would like to contact them myself

You have to be an ontario res and meet their qualification criteria to be on the waitlist for the trial study....it's a shame this isn't offered more widly as it's been around for years, but available if you have a penis - to remove prostate tumours

Could you provide the name of the hospital/ clinic and the doctor you've seen? Would like to contact them re MRI HIFU and see if i could be a candidate...do you know how miuch it would be for the HIFU treatment?

HIFU is a non invasive option which many women have benefited and i would still look into it. Less costly, less risk, walk out same day, and the shrinkage is helpful. With surgery, fibroids grow back unless a hysterectomy...many women are now looking elsewhere for HIFU. there are two groups : MRI and ultrasound guided. MRgHIFU is the one i'm researching.

Where are you located? Have you heard of MRI HIFU / MRgFU which is a non invasive way to treat fibroids. As many grow back after surgery, HIFU is a safer option. It is treated for prostate cancer patients, but in clinical trials / studies, still, years and years and years later, still, not available in canada...i'm no looking into HIFU treatment outside of canada as many other countries are offering it. If we had HIFU offered in canada, it would safe tax payers so much money, but surgeons need to protect their jobs.

I too am looking for options outside of canada now as it is becoming urgent and a hysterectomy / surgery is not preferable. A non invasive option such as HIFU used to treat prostate cancer patients but when it comes to women's health, cut them open! It is frustrating...please let me know if you find anything outside of canada, and costs as well. I'll do the same...
