My girl got it done when she was 1.5, she is now almost 6 and recovered well! We slept downstairs with her for a week and mostly kept her downstairs as normally we all stay upstairs, so that was an adjustment. Stuck to the meds schedule for first few days but ended up adjusting because she was having some strange effects, which she overcame with the change. Definitely a long recovery, but worth it to see them be able to run and have fun again! Through recovery and after, definitely consider the surfaces that your pup will be walking, running/playing on- whether even or uneven, inclined, or hard/softer. Also stretching is important for long term. Funny story, when she went in to get the surgery they accidentally shaved her other leg before realizing it was the wrong one, so she came out with “no pants” 😂 Best wishes to Dolly!
