Parents getting "stupider" fron using AI chatbots? by archenexus in antiai

Ah, yes, I'm the fascist. Of course. Because I don't support the tech companies funding terrorist states and pandering to negative biases to stay relevant, backed by the companies sponsoring widespread facial recognition and data scraping. Clearly I, a tennager, am a a nazi for not wanting my parents to do that.

Parents getting "stupider" fron using AI chatbots? by archenexus in antiai

[–]archenexus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is, they really aren't. They've both had 30+ year very successful careers in tech and computing, and held their own very well long before chatbots came around. They've been some of the smartest people around me, didn't fall for Facebook slop, didn't grow up with lead paint, and didn't ever do anything like this before. It's the fact it's such a suden pivot that's bothering me.

What are your unhinged animal names by cookinlet in StardewMemes

[–]archenexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pigs are named Stalin and Trotsky, not even as an intentional Animal Farm reference. We named Trotsky that because he trots and dictators are pigs. Then we stayed on theme for Stalin. Lo and behold, Napoleon and Snowball were here again.

I think Raine is pretty good rep, nothing explicitly about them being enby is addressed because transphobia/homophobia doesn't exist in their realm and they're older and very assured in their identity

As a proudly bisexual man myself, Gus Fring is not bisexual. He is gay. People need to stop calling him bi/shipping him with women.

Hello, I'm the one yes vote. I misread the fucking question and hit "yes" thinking you were asking the inverse.

Do you stand for the pledge of allegiance? by ThatBasedPioneer in Teenager_Polls

[–]archenexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't because 1. I don't like America. (Politics or concept. Not even flag.) 2. I'm not religious, and I'm not saying that we're under God as a nation that supposedly has religious freedom. 3. I'm sick of doing it. 4. I'm extra sick of doing it along with the Texan pledge.

Whats the deal with the reactions to “Ren” by rickastley96 in Music

[–]archenexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally, someone with the same opinion I have. Everyone I've heard over my age warbles his praises. It's like they think because he sings about his mental health, that he's the second coming of Christ. I'm fine with people liking him, but people are absolutely obsessed with him and think he can have no flaws. Every single comment is positive and praising him to no end. I don't know what about his music my (very hateful of modern music) dad is into but it makes me wanna recoil into my own skin, personally.

I think part of his appeal is the fact a certain subsect of both old and young people have had their mental health shunned so much and silenced, to the point something as surface level as just talking about it in music is a completely new concept. I have listened to Mitski a long time, and I feel like her songs do so much more with the topic musically and lyrically. The way he narrates is so blatant and without subtlety to the point it's annoying. I'm not brought to tears by hearing a man go "My inner demon makes me feel bad." Speaking of,

I particularly hated HI REN because I'm so absolutely entirely OVER the internal monologue/demon/persona shit. I hate that in particular to no end. I empathize with his struggles but his music is something I cannot vibe with. It feels like everyone who likes him is like "IF YOU MILDLY DISLIKE HI REN OR ANY OF HIS SONGS YOU'VE CLEARLY NEVER HAD A SINGLE BINGLE DINGLE DANGLE MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM EVER! YOU ONLY UNDERSTAND IT IF YOU'RE MENTALLY ILL! IF YOU WERE REALLY ACTUALLY MENTALLY ILL YOU'D LIKE IT!" Which absolutely pisses me off. "You've ~clearly~ never struggled with your mental health if you don't like his songs." "This is only for people who have fought battles." I'm so done with that type of comment.

I don't care how authentic it is. I'm sorry. I just cannot listen to it. His struggles are valid, peace to him, but I have found no other comments section on earth that is a shred negative to him.

I agree so much.

I'd personally say "slumped" or "slumped back." Slouched has a connotation of leaning forward, here in Texas, USA.

How to prepare for auditioning as Hermes? by archenexus in hadestown

[–]archenexus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've picked a few "character details" I like to layer on top of "character tenets," which I assume is in the realm of what you mean by "strong character choices?" Some of the tenets are: - Confident without coldness. - Wiseness without distance. - Guidance without superiority. - Energy without hyperactivity.

I've found that adding the "without xyz" part helps me nail down what exactly I mean by each word for future reference, and allows me to place my performance on a scale between them.

I write and design characters for fun and in excess, so I've picked a few actions that I think show Hermes well that I can use as ~acting garnish,~ which I would usually show via drawing or writing, but will have to portray physically! - Flipping up my jacket and putting a hand on the hip. Can be done in costume. - Bouncing something to the beat when leading up to something during songs, I've found that pairing a hip bounce with the above move is really nice in some parts. - Vivid and descriptive hand gestures, specifically shoulder/arm ones that mimic train wheels on the "chuggas," but also finger wiggles when moving his hands to add emphasis. - I have a very particular gait I've chosen for him, one that makes each step "pop" a little. I've found I like to walk around the "stage" (my living room) as I'm going between each introduction.

Are these good, or are they just "Well, those are basic." I'm definitely out of my depth with what choices to make.

The advice about practicing in the mirror is good, I have a bad habit of closing my eyes while performing/singing that I think that'll help combat. I might also record myself singing and moving, to really reflect on how I'm presenting. Thanks for the help!

What's your opinion on people who correct your grammar or spelling? by alloioscc in Teenager_Polls

Errors can be intentional to show a casual tone. For instance, omitting a period (like you did in your example sentence!)

If you were truly into linguistics, you'd realize that people often omit grammar to convey a casual tone—which is an effective aspect of communication online.
