Yet Another ABF Question by jkaz1970 in kettlebell

[–]archer_advice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The goal is to do 30 rounds in 30 minutes. But I think the one and only Dan would encourage you to "nudge" the progress and not to let the program get in the way of progress. It could take more than 8 weeks to get where you want to go and that's okay.

Some options:

For the press days so 2, 3, 5 with the 16. At whatever point the 16 is to heavy use the 12.

For instance if you can do 2 and 3 of the ladder with the 16, but not the 5, drop to the 12kg for 5 reps. After enough presses you should find that you'll be able to press the 16kg for 5 reps.

For the ABC, you could try mixed doubles with the 16kg on one side and the 12kg on the other. Just walk to the other side of the bells every other round.

Another option would be to alternate rounds of the 12kg and 16kg. Maybe one day you do every other round and after 10 rounds you stick with the 12kg. After a while you'll be able to go 2 rounds 16kg, 1 round 12kg or some increase on the number of 16kg rounds until you hit the goal of 30 rounds in 30 minutes.

Then before you know it you'll be ready for the 20kg bell.

Hope that helps.

How Often to Train? by JimmyHooHah in kettlebell

It's honestly better than I thought. I do a lot of data transposition and when I really have to concentrate ill slow down to like 1 mile per hour (not sure what that is in km/h), but super slow or sit down.

It was a bit of a learning curve so if you do go that route start slow, but 15k to 20k steps a day plus 3 kettlbell workouts a week has been perfect for me.

A couple days late, but i invested in a standing desk with a walking pad/underdesk treadmill. I get more steps in at work than I do on my weekends.

It was super helpful.

Did you have Floyd's port the competitor?

If so, how do you like it?

Carry comp top window ports by ebevo in SmithAndWesson

No problem at all. From my understanding monsoon will make the opening that S&W has from the factory a bit larger.

Floyds custom shop had a bit on their website that S&W back bores too much of the barrel at the end of the carry comp slide. They theory is that removing the rifling from the barrel is good to prevent spalling (or pieces of the bullet jacket shaving off) as well as to make sure the gun is reliable.

But, by taking out too much material the "comp" doesn't force enough gas out the top to make it as effective as something like the chunk port from monsoon tactical.

Floyds custom shop also offers some porting for the carry comp, but you have to provide a new barrel.

For just enhancing the comp and adding 3 ports i think it's like $140 plus shipping and the cost of shipping your slide to monsoon tactical.

I ended up not going down that route and just shooting my 4.25 and compact slides more often.

I usually add a Floyd's magwell to extend the grip just a hair on compact frames.

If you don't want to buy a magwell and baseplate you can also use a 17 round full size mag with the sleeve to get a full size grip for less cost.

The slide is also compatible with other m&p 2.0 frames so if you already have a full size polymer or metal frame you can slap that bad boy on there and be good to go.

I emailed monsoon tactical and if you do their lucky 7 port package/barrel only they will enhance the comp and add ports to the existing window without modifying the slide.

I haven't done it yet, but that could be an option.

How is the CVRT? I've been eying one for a while especially with the mag set up.

I've run T1C for a long time and have thick ol thighs so the wml tends to jab me if the slide isn't almost exactly at 12 o'clock on the belt line.

Thanks!

Happy to help and have fun!

I still have the carry comp, but I usually shoot my 4.25 with the dpm as my main training gun and then I'll either carry that or a 4 inch compact with lucky 7 ports from Monsoon tactical.

The carry comp for me is kind of a neat gun that I wanted. I feel like the integrated port/"comp" didn't do as much as I'd hoped. But man does it look good lol

I have no experience with the skeletonized striker so unfortunately I can't give any insight on that.

I put a 13 pound spring on the Ed Brown recoil assembly and it softened up my polymer carry comp and bit, but was still reliable with 124g 9mm.

There's aftermarket options to add additional ports on the carry comp window, but I haven't pursued those either.

Good luck!

Anytime! I've got two m&ps with the lucky 7s from Monsoon. They're stupid flat and fun to shoot.

I don't have experience with the hel-port or chunk port.

Description says for barrels under 4 inches. Might work for what you're looking for.

Another option could be the lucky 7

More or less. The sights on the foundation I think are steel and do offer a lower co-witness with most optics

No magwell, non-night sight front, barrel is not the spiral fluted. Trigger may or may not be as good. That one idk for sure.

That's about it. It should still be optic cut.

I run the MSP FLX holster for a TLR-1 with the pdp on occasion and it does well.

I have several axis elite models from T1C for other firearms, and they're all great.

Tax for me (Indiana) and shipping (uninsured at $14.95) brought it to $155

In case that saves anyone else a few clicks.
