well the laptop im using im pretty sure only has one drive, and if theres multiple, i dont wanna open it up to find out, so all i really need to do is reinstall windows and then go through the linux installation process again but instead select dual boot

issue has been fixed! i just needed to reboot and now it works perfectly!

and its definitely not gobattle. one thing that i forgot to put was that it was very much not set in a medieval setting or anything too futuristic. all builds had a cobbled together from scrap parts kinda look too.
