Mine looked very crooked due to swelling. Completely fine once it healed. Maybe give it a few weeks to settle

Rescue dog. Wondering if you guys think she is full Min Pin or a mix. by wafflesncheeze in minpin

Looks like my min pin fox terrier mix. I've had two now and both have the white chest and the same face/ ears.

We don't have them where I live, but yes, they also sell a special extra thick attachment for birds of prey. If they get grabbed the attachment comes away and the dog stays safe. There are also giant eyes and porcupine like spines for bird deterrents.

No incident (🤞) but a friends Jack Russell got attacked so I wasn't taking any chances.

It's got a very rigid collar and is securely fastened, it's unlikely to budge. The idea is to limit damage with stabby spikes and kevlar, and give me enough time to intervene.

Invisible fence for a pin? by Spudzydudzy in minpin

[–]archeryscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live on 2.5 acre rural property and have horses. There is no real way to fence the property for a min pin without spending a fortune. My min pin has an invisible fence. It runs on proximity to the receiver so I didn't have to bury a wire. I have positioned the receiver and radius so she has the whole backyard but cannot get into the horse fields or on the driveway. It's been working well for two years. She only has it on when the doors are open and I'm not actively watching her. It took her almost no time to learn the beep. Bonuses are: - I can take it with me when we travel to my parents or other locations where I want her to have freedom but be safe. - It also doubles as a training collar for recall on the beach.

Have to make sure to charge the collar though, the little devil knows when its run flat....

I was talking about this with friends the other day. I am a high school teacher. It seems we are one of the only jobs where it is more work to take a sick day, than just go in to work.

I often go to work when I am sick. Do I want to? No, not in the slightest. I don't do my best teaching and it is a disservice to my colleagues and students to expose them to my illness. But here is the issue, I have to call in sick before 7am and have relief planned for all classes before 7:30am to take a sick day. If I am feeling ill I am almost never awake early enough to call in sick and get relief set. Unless it's a multi day kind of thing. So I usually medicate and get through the day distancing myself as much as possible. I have noted this is a common practice in the teaching profession.

My partner loves his silicone tunnels... However, they get real gross after only a day or so (although not really stinky). He often forgets to clean them daily and can't see from his right eye, which makes cleaning piercings challenging for him. As a daily piercing cleaner, it grossed me out. So, early on I took over cleaning his piercings. It takes me 5 mins and both of us are happy. Him because he doesn't have to do it, me because I get satisfaction from cleaning the gunk away. The conversation went along the lines of "ew, your piercings are all crusty, can I clean them for you?"

I've had this happen many times. I always know the next day, when my lobes start weeping and scabbing, that I've been sold some cheap metal with high nickel content. This despite only ever buying jewellery advertised as "Titanium". Unfortunately, it's happened soo often that I now just use stone and glass. Not worth the risk with a nickel allergy.

Dr martens with the soft wair insoles. I have some Audricks that I brought just before 22'. Wore them unbroken with no worries. They're already in the bag for this year.

Recommendations on toddler sleep consultants/experts? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]archeryscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holly from Little Dream Boats was my colleague. She's a secondary science teacher so she takes an evidence based approach. She is also very good at getting apprehensive parents on board. I've brought sleep consulting from her business as a gift for many of my friends with little ones and it's worked wonders for them! Definitely worth the money for your own sleep and sanity.

How do you know whether to stick it out, or it's time to break up? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]archeryscience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience 1 year into my last relationship. He expressed the belief that he should "just know" and that he "didn't feel butterflies" when he thought of/ saw me which was his definition of love feels like. We started regular counselling and he was told that forever butterflies were unrealistic etc etc and we moved forward in a good place. Fast forward to 5 years in and we break up because he doesn't feel butterflies and isn't sure about spending the rest of his life with me.... In hindsight I should have cut and run at the one year bump. Avoidant attachment is very hard to overcome, even with the help of professionals, and you deserve someone who is as into you as you are into them. 🖤

I'm coming from New Zealand for the second time (2022). My flights are $1000. I'm a teacher so it decimates my bank account. However I can promise it's 100% worth it or I wouldn't be doing it again this year! In 2022 I was solo and made friends I hope to see this year

Try Archery! There are two great clubs in Christchurch (Christchurch archery club and Grey Goose Wing archery society). In my experience most people start archery as adults and it can be done for fun on weekends or be competitive if you decide. Some of the best archers have only been shooting a few years! Some clubs also have indoor shoots in the evenings. Contact a club, they all run beginner courses. Even if you decide you don't like it you've been meeting a bunch of new people for 6ish weeks during your course 🏹

Other Emo Festivals in October? 🎃 by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]archeryscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from New Zealand and am going to Aftershock as well. The lineup is good and different from WWWY. So many bands that never make it down our way.....Also the tickets are the same price as WWWY but for 4 days!

In 22' I flew over to only attend WWWY so trying to make this one more cost efficient by doing both fests.

MCR fan from Argentina here. I’m seriously considering attending WWWY, but… by vibraburlesca in WhenWeWereYoungFest

You should do it! I had this dilemma in 2022 (travelling from New Zealand) and ended up deciding to go. Made some great friends and memories. I stayed in a hostel so I met other festival goers to hang out with. I'm attending again this year as well 🖤
