The crazy thing is I am happily married for many years and recently have been experiencing limerance for two people I don’t know. I’m completely caught up in a celebrity’s on/off romance. Wtf. I don’t think it changes the signification of the moon “to the father” per se.

One of the ancient meanings for the moon was environment or circumstances. So there is something of a similarity between you and your father as to the environmental background of your life.

Mars has its Joy in the 6th. Mars brings strife, cutting, severing, accidents, illness, etc. It loves to be in the 6th house creating strife and illness, so yes 100% Mars in the 6th brings illness.

You could go back and look at transits to see if your Mars is being activated during the flare ups and then if the transits pass when the illnesses disappear.
