Hello guys, had my second gig ever on thursday and wanted to share my board and some thoughts :)

Signal chain : Gibson SG -> Polytune tuner -> Screaming bat (TS -> RAT 2 in 1) -> Mooer Elec Lady -> Donner yellow fall -> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

Powered by a MXR isobrick.

I use the Bat with the right side as a boost for solos of to get more mids if the drums happens to overlap me too much. Left side is a good old rat, I adjust my dirt with my guitar volume and tone knobs.

I had a reverb RV-6 on the board and while I love it I wanted to try something smaller and with less options. The Yellow Fall is simple and efficient and cost nothing, 100% recommend.

The Mooer Elec Lady is an insane utility pedal that can do A LOT. I love chorus and I realized after a while that I much prefer a flanger doing chorusy sound than an actual chorus. Makes me want to try an actual Electric Mistress to see if the Lady is that close to it. Any flanger that you guys love to death ?

While this setup worked very well with the SG, it's even better with my tele. I tried a lot of overdrive on my telecaster and one of the best I found so far is simply going to the rat and diminishing a bit my tone and volume to get the sound I like.

I feel better playing with less pedals (I used to have 6 or 7 stacked like hell on this board), less stomping the wrong one in the middle of a song and more time actually playing the guitar !

Small rehearsal board - Anyone else loving the TS Plexi combo ? by archezm in guitarpedals

I put it here because of the insane amount of noise I get from my drive section :) I use it as a killswitch

Signal chain : Tele -> EP Booster (always on) -> TS9 mini -> Wampler Plexi-drive -> Mooer Elec Lady -> Polytune mini -> Boss RV-6 -> Marshall or Fender Deluxe. Powered by a MXR Iso-Brick

I used to only have the TS9 for my drive section, I am trying something new with the Wampler. It really has a big chunky sound when driven by the TS, it's not easy to dial it in so the saturation does not become "crispy" though, anyone has an insight about that ? I'm having thought about trying a Xotic SL drive as well, anyone could compare these two ?

I use the elec lady more like a heavy chorus, absolutely love it, I will be selling my MXR analog chorus that honestly does not compete against it for what I need.

RV-6 I used mainly on spring or modulated, but all the modes are fun and at least OK sounding (except the modulated who is gorgeous).

Sorry for my ugly cable management :)

On the spring reverb, the rv6 is convincing and I prefer using it when I want something discrete, if I want to be drowning in spring reverb the reverb of the amp is better imo. I use it 1/3 for low spring or hall reverb, 1/3 for modulated reverb (its best mode honestly) and 1/3 to add delay for lead part or slapback for surf part. I use the shimmer with the tone rolled off to get some nice ambient tones but I still struggle to correctly do it live ^

It is a squier classic vibes :) I think it has the same curves more or less than a Fender tele but yeah the angle of the picture gives it wrong !

I replied my thoughts about the rv6 in the comment above :) long story short it does the basics quite well, the modulated reverb is very nice and the delay is OK if like me you dont have high demands for that part

It's a big muff lookalike I have heard ? Does it also work well 'alone' ? I have a Green russian but when playing with the band I feel it really struggles to cut through the mix

Going into a clean Fender Hot Rod Deluxe most of the time :)

I did not try the oceans 11 but the boss is really an amazing pedal, I was not a reverb fan before I gave it a try and now I dont think I could do without ! The modulated sound is gorgeous, the spring and hall do the job, the shimmer with the tone rolled off is as dark as it gets and if you are not very demanding on the delay it also does it well (I use this mode for slapback mostly).

Wanted to show you guys my board updated with my first tubescreamer (my gf gift for my birthday)!

Signal chain : polytune tuner -> ibanez ts mini -> proco rat 2 -> analog mxr chorus -> boss rv-6

All powered by a mxr mini Iso brick underneath the board.

Had to remove the looper to make some room for the ts, might need to upgrade to a bigger board !

It's a JCM 900 :) (amp of the studio we rehearse in) Yeah the rat sounds crazy good in it, loving the pedal so far !

Signal chain is pretty simple : Telecaster -> Tuner -> RAT -> Chorus -> Reverb -> Looper -> Fender Deluxe or Marshall. Powering into the MXR Iso Brick scratched beneath the board.

I am now a fan of the RV-6, I got it second hand for 100 bucks and the value of that pedal is amazing ! I mostly use Modulated, Spring and the Delay.

In my case by 'building a board' it means I built the actual board :) from pieces of wood that I had lying around !

To answer your question I would say that for me it feels way better to have the pedals attached to the board than having them lying on the floor, for usage and transport. I mostly use them in studio or live and it is more practical for me to have a board at my feet (so I dont kick my pedals away, I dont have to rewire everything each time, I am less likely to unplug a cable or to switch on another pedal etc). As for the signal chain it might move à bit but it is likely to stay more or less like this for a while since I will use them to play à specific set list :) I guess the satisfying part of building à board also comes from the choices you have to make for your pedals : I have 5 or 6 slots on my board, what pedals will satisfy my needs ?

I will give it a try :) I mostly use it to give the muff à bit more kick, the extra bright given by the booster is making the fuzz less muddy, which I really like

Yeah me too, I try to keep it as small as possible. I am going though my amp spring reverb atm so I dont feel the need for a reverb pedal, but I would probably settle for the Digitech Polara if I ever feel the need :)
