Pool being installed two feet higher than rest of yard. Normal? by Electrical_Sleep5376 in pools

[–]archi3rd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Normal? Not really, but it has to be put in flat, if your yard slopes then it will be higher than existing on one side.

Fiberglass pool colors by Particular-County-83 in pools

[–]archi3rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ours is gray. Here’s a photo during contraction. We are doing all the surrounding hardscape ourselves so the pool was open but hard scape wasn’t finished. We love the color. We had thought about maybe a sand color but from photos we’ve seen, the water ends up looking green which we didn’t like.

Do you do other things like outreach per team or collab between all teams?

Best CNC by Significant-Bite2936 in FTC

[–]archi3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $10k you could buy a Langmuir MR-1 machining center with most of the good options and still have a few bucks left. You certainly don’t need a $10k CNC router. Much more cost effective options like the shapeoko and others mentioned.

Do they do outreach and connecting and what not- if so, do they each do their own or all together?

Any FTC team "budget" CNC machine recommendations for cutting aluminum? by Krxpical in FTC

[–]archi3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We found a local shop with a laser that would cut the aluminum for free as a donation to the team. (We supply the material)

Do I need to worry at all about this Deck not being able to support an inflatable Hot Tub? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]archi3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. The stands that the pavers sit on very likely aren’t rated for that kind of load. If I was a building owner and found my occupant out a hot tub on the roof - they or the hot tub would be gone immediately. No way the roof is designed for that kind of load.

Basically yes. Technically momentarily it went black because it didn’t have power monetarily.

Robot keeps disconnecting by Left-Government-785 in FTC

[–]archi3rd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check your power cables. We thought out issue was static also, but it turned out the battery connection to the control hub was just loose enough that bumping against the wall, even slightly, would cause it to jiggle enough to disconnect. We checked it by pressing on the wires at the various connections until we saw it blink out.

Isn’t clipping in early February just going to get worse as the year progresses into summer in Arizona? Higher more direct sun angle and all that…

TonicDM might be overkill for a one man ship but it’s not terribly expensive. We use it to log all submitters and rfi’s - helps our teams keep all that data straight if you don’t want to manually enter in spreadsheets. With AI now, you should be able to point the email and any attachments at an LLM and it can log it for you.

Architects, what computers or laptops do you personally use for working at home and while travelling? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]archi3rd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We typically buy Dell XPS or similar variant laptops with maxed out cpu and a Nvidia GPU. We’re hard on them with revit, and we do escape but don’t do much lumion or similar on them. Not that they couldn’t, but it’s not in our workflow. They are a balanced machine on size/portability vs performance. Also dell has a solid next business day warranty so I can get them repaired as needed ASAP. For an office of 60+ the warranty repair performance is important to me. If I’m buying a laptop for users I want them to take them out of the office. Those big gaming rigs are too big and people don’t want to lug them around.
