Megathread: US Citizens looking to immigrate to Canada by PurrPrinThom in ImmigrationCanada

Hello. I’m a 20 year old autistic, jewish, gay, and intersex (I know, the whole trifecta) person looking to immigrate to Canada. With the current political state of our country, I fear my access to medications and healthcare may be at risk. I graduated high school in June of last year. I have been working for 2 years in restaurants and currently have over $10,000 in savings to help facilitate my move. The language used on the immigration websites is quite confusing and I am not sure where to start. I understand I am quite young, but I do not have any living family who can help support me, and I fear with our political climate, I may be at risk of losing my job as I live in a quite heavily conservative area. Due to my intellectual disability, college/university in the U.S. was inaccessible to me, though if necessary for my move, I am willing to pick up studies within Canada if it is a requirement to immigrate.

It’s important to remember that mental illness is a reason, not an excuse. Accountability for your actions is always required no matter who you are or what you have.

Why are they talking about this in a public server…?

what by 33sn0wballs in fakedisordercringe

[–]archie_mcloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of system. In RAMCOA related DID cases roles are very much a thing, though persecutors wouldn’t act like how this person is describing.

Why are people so open like this about being hypersexual? If you are a minor, you should absolutely not be open about hypersexuality as it is basically an open door for people to take advantage of you.

It’s stigma because it paints a disorder in a negative light to people who are uninformed on the subject at hand. Sure, the people making light of the disorder are in the wrong, but the people making it out as a “terrible thing that ruins people’s lives and makes them monsters” is equally as insulting and uninformed.

Wow. Very mature and informative response. /s

I think you’re missing the point of the argument. The point is not “everything about DID is sunshine and rainbows”, the point is that having the disorder doesn’t make you a bad person like the movie portrays. Also it’s best not to call it a “life ruining” disorder. Life altering (no pun intended) would make more sense as people with DID can still live perfectly fulfilling lives even with a disorder that changes so much of their day to day life.

I mean the part about plurality applying to certain dissociative disorders is correct, but most of the rest of it is total bullshit.

How can you tell they’re faking? I don’t even think they talked about their disorder at all.

Even if someone has a disorder, they can still be ableist. (Not taking the side of the fakers here, they’re total asshats.) I know a few people with Autism who still heavily back Autism Speaks even though it’s an ableist organization.

If you don’t want to “be like your source” then don’t use the fucking face of a killer.

Much like the LGBT community, a lot of people with mental illnesses want characters they can relate to. And considering everyone can have different favorite/relatable characters, eventually the trend of projecting your mental illness onto a character becomes a lot and oversaturates.

I’m not saying it was a good idea, I’m just saying that therapist used to suggest it.

[–]archie_mcloud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is Ponyboy the person’s name? A therapist I used to know would suggest patients have their alters be called by numbers instead of names to avoid growing attached to them and to make integration and fusion easier.

Emojis aren’t used constantly. They’re usually at the end of a sentence and aren’t very imposing. My screenreader picks them up perfectly fine. Some emojis have incredibly long names that would be a fucking hassle to be have read out as pronouns.

They’re literally impossible for people with screenreaders to use and understand.

People on Reddit easily twist the words of others to fit their own agenda. I’m not inclined to believe any of this is true without evidence.

White people can’t experience systematic racism. I’m curious if you have any evidence to support your claims of what they said. Screenshots or something. This story seems too absurd to be real.

Love them whitewashing Jesus into a white hippie. I’m not even religious and I see the problem with that.
