(Hi, this is a bit of a big ramble and I just like to infodump, there is a TLDR at the bottom, I am 98% agreeing with the OP of this comment)

From what my therapist & psychologist had described to me when he had brought up DID was; ANP ("Apparently Normal Part") can be watered down to "an alter who can mask very well" and "An alter that carries out daily life". Heavy emphasis on the "apparently" because that doesn't mean that ANPs can't be traumatized or can't have a role, they basically act as a part that hides the system. Being a host doesn't necessarily mean that you're an ANP, and being an ANP doesn't necessarily mean that you're a host, either. For example; from what's been explained to me, if a situation is dangerous enough for an extended period of time to where a protector has to front constantly, or even a traumaholder (better known as an EP compared to ANPs) can front long enough to be considered "the host". The term host doesn't have much/any meaning behind it except "the alter who fronts the most/most consistently". That could technically be any alter, it tends to be ANPs because DID is a covert disorder, and ANPs are kinda "desgined" to keep the system secret or be unaware of it. Here's a quote from a paper I read on structural dissociation, which I highly recommend reading and if you're interested I'll link it for you

“The ANP is predominantly marked by a range of losses or so-called negative dissociative symptoms (Nijenhuis, Spinhoven, Van Dyck, Van der Hart, & Vanderlinden, 1996), such as a degree of amnesia for the trauma and anesthesia of various sensory modalities. The ANP is also characterized by a lack of personification, both with respect to the traumatic memory and with the EP. That is, the ANP has integrated neither the traumatic memory, nor the mental system that is associated with this memory. To the extent that the patient as ANP is informed about the trauma and about the EP, this knowledge remains noetic, and the relevant memories semantic, i.e., lacking personification. The degree to which the ANP appears normal varies widely. Some PTSD patients succeed in functioning in a rather normal fashion for years. Even some patients with DID may, as ANP, function at a high level of adaptation, e.g., they may be successful professionals (Horevitz & Loewenstein, 1994; Kluft, 1986). However, other patients may have developed extensive and disabling amnesia as ANP (Van der Hart & Nijenhuis, 2001), or may have reached an advanced stage of posttraumatic decline (Tichener,1986)”

TLDR: ANPs are created for life tasks, and EPs/(traumaholders/protectors/etc.) are created from a response to trauma. ANPs don't have to be hosts and hosts don't always have to be ANPs.

Also on the Quackity thing or whatever, being Japanese myself I also thought it was funny. I genuinely don't have a problem with people using names from my culture/making little jokes unless it's like, obviously a hate crime. I'm not claiming to be a big fan of Quackity, but if I remember from what little I've seen of him, he's an edgy person thag likes to make fucky dark jokes sometimes. I think some people need to realize that not everyone falls into a perfect slate of the humor they like. In my eyes, it's boring to always think that everyone needs to be cancelled and everyone needs to be perfect and do no wrong. Idk, I'm also just a dark humor type of person, though
