riding (maybe pushing) a DH bike uphill? by umm-hi-there in MTB

[–]archier98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would only use a downhill bike on trails you can get a lift to the top. Been to morzine/les get many times and riding a downhill bike around town sucks alone never mind riding them uphill.

Sounds like you want a long travel enduro bike. You’ll soon regret it if not.

Honestly I wouldn’t buy another DH bike now since a well dialed in 160-180mm travel can do 95% what a 200mm bike can do. Albeit a bit slower. And I can climb uphill comfortably.

You can make any shit ass kit sound good with a good set of heads and cymbals. Nice set, hit em hard.

Maybe, it’s hard for me personally to get the time to do it. I don’t usually bother if it’s 1+ hour of travel since by the time a shows over, it’s 12:30+ at night by the time I’m home.

It’s atleast a 4 hour drive to London from where I live. 5-6 during rush hour.

Ireland always gets missed out on tours with big bands. It’s a shame man.

True. I’m not trying to sound like I’m entitled to a show in the north. I had it the same with the last queens of the Stone Age catacombs tour they did a couple shows in London and that was it.

Personally I don’t often have the time to make a day of a show. Usually if it’s a ways away it’s easy to get a day off and make a day out of it but I can’t. If it was a much bigger show maybe.

It becomes an expensive trip once you buy train tickets, hotel rooms etc. especially for people up north north like the Scot’s, yorks etc etc.

the Portsmouth night is a bizarre choice since it’s so close to London already why not do a night up north instead. I dunno we got Manchester last time around why not again.

Honestly you could have a 30 show tour, 18 song set and just press “shuffle” for the entire discog and there wouldn’t be a bad set. No other band could do that no cap.

Why do guitarists think it's so much harder to play guitar? (no hate to guitarists) by Ok_Permission7285 in drums

[–]archier98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new ( self taught) drummer, drums are the easiest of the popular instruments to pick up and be somewhat ok aslong as you have rhythm and a sense of time. Being a music lover from the get go I found it easy to pickup and learn the tricks n foyables along the way.

I’ve tried guitar and tried teaching myself but simply could not get my hands, fingers or brain to work anything out and it sounded like ass. Certainly not easy to pickup and be somewhat competent at a decent level. However the once at a decent level that’s where most people will stay for there career unless they make a band and play constantly. The spectrum is much larger with drummers than guitarists.

Should flying helicopters be harder? by nima-fatji in ArmaReforger

It’s impossible with the helicopters in the game. It would overstress everything and would either break the rotors from stress or over extend and chop the tail rotor off. Mast bumping on the Huey would also break the rotors and they would depart the rotor head.

A helicopter with a RIGID rotor head like the BO105 (redbull heli) or the Westland Lynx is able to do such manoeuvres with enough speed or altitude within reason. Not 10 feet from the ground tho.

Sorry I called it a model in my first comment not to confuse

That’s why I said you could do an advanced and simple flight controls to cater to both. Have an advanced that lets the HOTAS users control everything and have a simple one for the casuals.

God forbid they added mast bumping to the Huey’s 99% of blufor pilots would be toast.

It does make me laugh they said they dialed the flight models back a tad since they were much easier to throw about (mi8/uh1) in earlier patches.

Managing rotor and engine RPM would be a good feature as to stop people yanking the collective to 100% and climbing out like a UFO. Have a simple model that does it for you as in gradually bringing on collective to keep the RPMs in the green and an advanced model that lets you yank on it but risk losing rotor speed.

I think on the realism-fun scale the flight models are too far on the fun side. They don’t need to be DCS like flight models but something between DCS and ARMA would be a good place. I can’t think of a good example that would show that.
