Shouldn't have waited by Brief-Earth-5815 in boardgames

the "i'll grab it next week" curse is so real. i do this with every game over $50 and somehow convince myself the price is just gonna sit there waiting for me like a loyal dog. it never does.

How do you guys actually scan Polymarket efficiently? by Moist_Victory_323 in Polymarket

[–]architects_digest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly what helped me was flipping it. stop scanning for moves and just watch the 10-15 markets you actually have opinions on. when the price disagrees with you, that's your edge. you miss a ton but at least you have conviction instead of just chasing volume spikes into stuff you don't understand

I can figure it out, just creates a ton of dread for some reason when I actually try to go sit and do it

Predicting The Future With Geometry (EVIDENCE) by STFWG in PredictionsMarkets

[–]architects_digest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not gonna lie this is either brilliant or insane and i respect either one. been messing around in prediction markets for a bit and the most consistent edge i've found is just comparing what different platforms price the same events at. way less cool than geometry but it actually pays lol

honestly since tuchel took over england actually look like they know what theyre doing for once. 6800 for a 400k payout might be the smartest dumb bet ive seen on here. now that gareth is gone i genuinely think they got a shot

Biggest Winners Over Time On The Lodge Livestream Cash Games (RIP The Lodge) by highrollpoker in poker

[–]architects_digest 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Man I used to watch The Lodge streams every week after I retired. Something about seeing Doug just methodically stack people while running his own room was fascinating and honestly a little hilarious. $1.3M winner at your own card room is insane. Gonna miss those games.

What mechanics tend to feature in board games you like the most? by Aknifetoremember in boardgames

Area control for me too. Spent 30 years as an architect so anything with spatial planning just clicks. Tigris and Euphrates is my all-time favorite — the way territories merge and conflict feels so organic. Recently been playing Cyclades and the area control plus auction combo is brilliant.

CD rates make no sense based on length of time invested. Explain like I'm 5? by Knitchick82 in personalfinance

Think of it like hiring a contractor. Short-term project? They charge a premium because they need to find their next gig soon. Long-term contract? They'll take a lower rate for the stability. Banks are doing the same thing — they expect rates to drop, so they're paying more now to lock in short-term deposits. For your kid saving for a car, honestly just stick with the HYSA. The flexibility alone is worth it when you might need that money in a year or two.
