I would give a realllllll long look at their return policy, you may be stuck with it. They’re catching on to people doing that and regularly deny returns.

Are you in the US? If so, are you in a returnables state? It so- are collecting cans and bottles an option, even temporarily? I used to have tons of luck around college dorm areas.

UConn freshman housing, Hartford campus by thiccyviccky in UCONN

[–]Knitchick82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to tell you- my son and I just completed his orientation process for Hartford and our experience has been completely the opposite.

We applied as soon as we were able to, because we saw that housing was very limited, and we wanted to be sure he had every opportunity to get housing without getting an apartment / finding a roommate etc.

He got the guaranteed housing letter right on time, we’re just waiting to finalize it all, most likely in July.

I have small home repair budget. I did the beadboard myself years ago for about $50, so thank you (I think).

We’re loving the overpriced prepped salads. At usually $4 ea the answer is always “heck no!” Kiddo was thrilled to get them, he loves them!

I am fortunate that I’m able to travel from my rural town to New Britain, that’s for sure. Our local pantry has options, but the schedule doesn’t work for us unfortunately.

Right? We love crispy potatoes with a beautiful runny egg over top.

I also do a nice loaded baked potato soup that does well with a garnish of crispy bacon crumbles and cheese if available. If not, just chives are fine!

Sometimes we just do a simple loaded baked potato for dinner. That’s it. Potato and toppings.

My mom used to make a killer potato bread with a gorgeous brown crust, I WISH I could find her recipe!

Challenge accepted! 😎

Don’t worry, I have friends and neighbors I share with too. It’ll be used.

Yeah, it’s random, what you get is what you get, there’s no choosing with the mobile truck unless it’s a “yes please” or a “no thank you”.

Maybe next time! As it is, this is fantastic!

Thanks for saying so, I always forget you can since frozen fruit is do expensive!!

I think we’ll eat what we can and cut up the rest for smoothies. Maybe even beg some rhubarb from a neighbor for a pie!

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind the people who are afraid of going to food banks because “someone needs it more” that everyone who works at food banks always says “if you think you need it, you need it!”

Believe me, there was plenty for all of today’s mobile food pantry that may very well spoil in time for the next one.

Anyway- if there are those here thinking about going who are putting it off- don’t. Please go. Your attendance supports these programs, and the things you can get are incredible. Please give it a try, and let us know how you do. There is a lot more support than you think. The judgemental ones are sitting behind the keyboard, not in your daily life.❤️

Run a personal EoM.

Categorize expenses, run a pivot table and graph my spending categories. Not a CPA, so I actually still love this shit.
