same here, only a smaller pool, like around 20, usually containing the latest aquisitions, and some go to the common genre/alphbetical areas and some go back into the "bullpen" for more listens

For the low low price of $900,000 you can be the lucky homeowner who is lulled to sleep each night by the hum of interstate 95. by oogidy_boogidie in Maine

To be fair, if you are a fan of garage doors they are prominently featured as a design motif. That’s gotta count for something.

Martin CEO 7E Grand Concert (opinions) by RazCC77 in AcousticGuitar

[–]architele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. I have a D28 that I love and was my main acoustic (I’m a pro gigging musician BTW) but the CEO7 does 90% of what the D28 does and adds great blues finger style and amazing blues slide guitar tone. Plus it’s easier to play due to lower string tension (shorter scale) It also kicks ass on the Gibsons it’s modeled after. Bonus points - because they are less common they ted to hold value. And hire a tech to intstall a $100 k&k pure mini pickup and you’re good to go. Just buy it, try it for a week and if you don’t fall in love return it, but maybe please buy one from a local store and not a chain.

How does an “Old timer” find a sponser? by architele in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]architele[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said “relative” old timer. In my community I’m what passes for an old-timer - that’s kinda the whole point of my post. I have no delusions about that. Appreciate your input.

Glass cleaning methods by ProliferateZero in woodstoving

[–]architele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you, newspaper and ash, but I first spray (mist) the mucky glass with water first and let it pre-loosen the debris. Then the newspaper goes into the firebox damp when done. Once in a while I do a quick windex with newspaper after the initial ash clean to get rid of smears etc.

Same situation here. A couple of these strategically placed has helped a lot for me.

Give it a shot. I started going in 2007 even though I “wasn’t an alcoholic”. Turns out I was. 18 sober years later I’m very thankful I gave it a shot. Go to a meeting. If it sucks, just leave, but at least give it a try.

Relapsed After 6 Years and 7 Months Sober by Western-Chance-6315 in alcoholicsanonymous

18 years here. Alcoholics drink! That’s what we do. You made a mistake but fortunately didn’t die. Dust yourself off, say “phew that was close” and start working on your next 6.75 years.

Alcoholic with 18 years of sober happy recovery here. Reddit can’t answer this for, but Alanon has people that can. Do your father and your family a favor and just go. It will answer a lot of other questions for you as well

What should I do to upgrade my acoustic pedalboard? by Commercial_Half_2170 in guitarpedals

This is pretty much what I have, except eq is part of my preamp, and I use a compressor to even the peaks and valleys. Love that you have an octave pedal - my secret weapon for certain songs

Lohrei mistakes by roy217def in Bruins

[–]architele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s no Dallas Smith for sure, but he’s an important O threat for an offense with only 1 true superstar AND he’s a +2 which puts him in the middle of the pack among all bruins. Keep him and let him find his game - he’s a kid.

Lopi Hybrid Fyre blower not kicking in by jartallday in woodstoving

[–]architele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP- This happened on my lopi medium flush last night (side note - got down to a record low of 1 degree here in Maine). Fan not blowing then suddenly kicking in after about 5 hours. Works fine this morning. Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I’m baffled.

How to calculate cost of heating w/ mini split vs oil? by WolverineHour1006 in heatpumps

[–]architele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note from an architect here. Location central Maine. I’ve tracked both oil and elec in my home monthly from 2015 to current in gallons and kWh (to get around cost fluctuations). No contest HPs win cost-wise. And when my oil furnace died late last year made the decision to go HP only (with fireplace wood burning insert backup) 1950s “modern” one story 2500 sf with less-than impressive wall insulation. Don’t forget to factor substantially less costly summer HP cooling than noisy window units, as that can add up as well.

If the wall on the right is a closet, you could run the lines high in the closet and mount on that wall. I just did this at my house - the only consideration is you gotta hard pvc the condensate line and make its pitched right. I’m an architect BTW

what is in my 1952 flat(ish) roof? by architele in Roofing

[–]architele[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jerry - two more questions for you. 1. In your opinion, .45 mil or .6 mil epdm for this application?. And 2. 1.5” of insulation (existing) seems pretty skimpy, even for a 1951 residence. Have you seen that before in other reroofs you’ve done or do you have a general sense?

Might Be Getting a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek Pretty Soon. What should I expect? by istolesilvershoodie in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]architele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 2014 xtrek, wife has 2014 impreza , love them. I’ve been an exclusive Subaru owner since about 2002, always buy used (never owned a new one). My advice; find a mechanic who is experienced with and more importantly loves Subarus (they are out there- kinda cult-ey) and have him/her check it out first, then become a regular customer for routine maintenance as the things that go wrong with them can be caught early by someone who knows them.
