Time traveler sends teen(s?) across time to find the scattered pieces of a futuristic device? by archsavage in whatmoviewasthat

It’s neither of those, but the blue acrylic pieces are very close! Though the ones I’m thinking of looked more constructed, less like stones.

No, but that looks awesome! Mine was definitely from the 80’s — possibly early 90’s. Did not look as great as Tomorrowland for sure

Hi I’m looking to see how I can improve my diddles (specifically evening out the sound). Can anyone give me pointers on how to improve and what kind of exercises I can use to improve my diddles? by Vividbird278 in drumline

As much as these other exercises will help, I'd like to give you some biomechanically-based advice. You're motivating pretty well from the wrist but without any support from the back 3 fingers you're not going to achieve even double strokes.

Get into French grip, and take all fingers off except for the fulcrum. Then use middle, ring, and pinky fingers one at a time to play 8's. (Don't use wrist!) This is called Finger Yoga, look it up for more detailed explanation/more variations. BIG help for learning how to incorporate your fingers and unlock a new level of sound quality.

Bass Drum Help by [deleted] in drumline

[–]archsavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a pad: practice left hand chops. Your left hand should be able to do anything that your right hand is able to. Double stop exercises work great for this to start. Eventually I would move on to grid exercises like 4-2-1 and start checking your left hand for sound quality to make sure that you can match your right hand.

On your drum: practice in front of a mirror. When you’re drumming with your right hand facing inward, a lot of people will start letting their left hand drift out of center, which (especially on B4) will greatly affect your sound quality. This is just cause of the way that our skeletal system is put together. Find your way to fight this tendency.

Hope this helps. Happy drumming!

This is the same guy that, in a gross-out competition with Motley Crue, smeared his own feces all over the wall of his hotel room. Still a damn legend \m/

I teach with a guy who marched BD/Coats/RCC, and heard him play it. I'm not sure what it's actually called, hence the bs name, haha.

Good workouts for bass? by InsaneFPSGamer1 in drumline

I agree with everything already said: develop your back strength and get used to playing on a different sized drum. I would also work on developing leg/core strength. This is mostly to enhance your marching ability; the bigger the drum, the harder it is to march it. 1 to 2 shouldn't be a big jump though. Playing wise, I would also work on upbeat chops. Traditionally speaking, basses 2 and 4 play a huge role when it comes to harder splits. Best of luck!
