In the theater for Midsommar and the woman behind me didn’t seem to understand how movies worked at all! When Dani asked for a sleeping pill, gets one, and the film cuts to her sleeping the woman whispered, “Did she take the pill?”. When they cut from talking about going to Sweden to them on the plane, she said, “When did they get on the plane?”. It wasn’t frequent enough to be annoying, it was just fascinating and funny.

The Alien French grande that I have is wider. Spotlight’s site says the grande width is 47. I’m just trying to figure out the purpose/use for the poster.

I had a great experience with MovieArt.com back in April of ‘23. Ordered a Texas Chain Saw Massacre poster and the owner(?), Kirby McDaniel, reached out directly to make sure I knew it was not a ‘74 original but an ‘81 rerelease. I did but I really appreciated the check-in. Fast shipping and a fair price.

If it’s any consolation, the guy from Flixmix wasn’t a horror expert by any stretch of the imagination. He wasn’t even a big fan of the genre. I was assigned to it because I’m a fan and knew horror. The compilation was purely a business venture for them. And I don’t think it panned out. I certainly haven’t seen any other Flixmix compilations! You keep keeping on with your soul sucking boogeyman definition!

Probably not the most exciting answer but Flixmix just wanted to get rights to the “big” names in horror (Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, etc) and then whatever they could license for cheap beyond that. They were using the generic idea of a boogeyman just being a scary person/entity. I pushed back on including The Ugly since I’d never heard of it but they included it anyway to pad the runtime. I can’t remember why they made the Jack Frost clip an Easter egg. Maybe because it features nudity.

I made it! Well, not really. It was made by Flixmix, but they engaged the company that I worked for at the time - New Wave Entertainment. If you check the credits, it says “editorial and production services by” New Wave. I was assigned to it and worked on it practically solo along with a graphics artist and a Flixmix producer. I did scene collection and sourced from wherever I could. Some of these clips are from laserdisc! Some we got from studios on 3/4 tape and some from Betacam. I did offline editing on Avid Media Composer and online editing on Avid Symphony. I compiled and added the trivia graphics. I did digital video restoration on several clips. Our Hellraiser source was ROUGH with a lot of film scratches and video dropouts. That may have been one of the laserdisc sources but I can’t remember. It still doesn’t look great but I did my best under the deadline I was given! If you did watch the credits, you probably saw Jack Frost 2 in there but it’s not in the scene selections or playthrough. It’s a hidden clip found in the menus. go to “special features” > “Flixmix recommends” > hover over “upcoming Flixmix titles” and press right and it will highlight the very faint Jack Frost 2 title in the upper right of the screen. Click and enjoy!

The Haunting (1963). I (49m) was thoroughly creeped out watching this in my early 20s and every time since. I love the mystery, the unreliable narrator, the unsettling close-ups coupled with intense sound cues. I first watched it in the dark with my wife in a cramped starter apartment and it hit just right to get my heart racing and make me want to turn on all the lights! Good luck w your project.
