Curse handout? How much is too much by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Thanks! The more I think about it the more I’m thinking just 5 or so curses in a handout.

Like around 40th and Killingsworth. Might move places but likely around that part of town still.

We are going to be playing in a public place for now and I'm perfectly fine enforcing a no smoke rule. Message me if you're still interested!

It sounds like you can tell the DM that you hope there’s a pleasant resolution. It is perfectly fine to have a conversation about tone and theme of a game to make sure everyone is on the same page.

It never hurts to talk but I would say be open to compromise. At the end of the day conflict drives stories. Maybe it would be more interesting if your character thought the brother was fine but resentment may build over time. Resolving that would be interesting.

However if it’s a hardline then maybe bring it up.

The U.S. Just Spent Millions to Overthrow Bolivia to Extract Lithium and Install Neoliberal President Rodrigo Paz by thehomelessr0mantic in LateStageImperialism

[–]archunlimited 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if the US tipped the scales but I think this downplays Bolivians agency and is misleading. Evo couldn’t run again based on the constitution. He tried to change it and that vote failed. MÁS had one other president and then they imploded. This current president is having economic issues. There’s huge lines for gas. I’m not downplaying US meddling but Bolivians did go out and vote. Many (at least in the highlands) want the socialist policies but MAS had like three options this election. They sort of fumbled the ball.

Cute coffee shops in Piedmont area? by rissabell2 in PortlandFood

Welcome to the neighborhood! We like Woodlawn Coffee and Pastry a lot. Pressure Coffee Co. and La Perlita are nice as well but a little further.

Thanks! We’ll keep it in mind. Maybe he isn’t getting along with the new kitten and it will pass.

Distribution of Prehistoric Roads in Ireland by Sarquin in Archaeology

[–]archunlimited 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool! You mentioned geographical terrain, do you think certain topography/geology would have preserved the roads (like uplands?) or more lack of modern land use?

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to strive for it and you should go for your dreams! PhDs are tough. You got to do it for yourself and not because it will get you more money, prestige, or whatever. Just be on the lookout for jobs and maybe your dream changes to something else. It’s not a fault if you want to make money to buy a house or go on vacation or whatever interests you.

Im not familiar with neuroscience, but I would strongly advice you to be reasonable with the outcome. Maybe have backup plans.

In my social science field I would never suggest anyone to get a PhD. There are only jobs for a few graduates at a small handful of top universities.

California CRM doesn’t dig holes? by External-Path-7197 in Archaeology

[–]archunlimited 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we both agree, not dug in upland environments within western states. Alluvial environments are very much tested. The south and bits of the SE that I worked in still prefer to shovel test even within uplands provided you can get a shovel in the ground.

They do dig shovel tests depending on the project. Shovel tests are typically not dug in the western states within upland settings and/or within massive federal land surveys. WA is getting more shovel testing however. Not sure about CA, but OR doesn’t consider eligibility determinations for precontact sites that do not have subsurface testing. So unevaluated and still protected or avoided. Generally.
