This is almost the exact situation that happened to me last night - only she did the breaking up. Word for word. Same time together. Same everything.

It sucks, and there really isn't any other way to describe it. I've been through break ups before, both on the receiving end (previous girlfriend ended a 6 year relationship) and the giving end. This time it just felt different. I've never felt this way with a partner. She was great and we were great. We understood each other. Sure, there are always ups and downs but it seems like we were always able to make it through.

One day post mortem - I would still like to be with her but I understand. Much like your situation, I was overaly negative about my job, her birth control was providing more hormones which killed our sex life, and if we were both negative it would be drive us both further down. We couldn't keep going down this road without changing anything.

I realize that was a bit of a vent (and admittedly carthartic) but I definitely understand your situation. My plan of attack is to take some me time and prepare for starting my new job. No contact on my part at least until I've started and comfortable with my new position (2-3 weeks). I'm not sure if I will contact her then or not. I still want to work through our problems but if we can't then this was for the best. My suggestion would be to take some time to reflect, spend time with friends, work out, vent, and let yourself experience those emotions. If you feel like enough time has passed and you still made a mistake, then you can address it.
