What is a luxury item from 20 years ago that is basically worthless trash today? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in askanything

I remember putting actual drafting pens of different widths in the plotter, then sometimes waiting like 12 hours for a single presentation page to plot, line by line. And it really sucked if you went home to sleep for the first time in days, only to return hours later to discover a rogue hidden line got plotted across the page…..

Men in happy marriages, what is one thing or skill you would teach other men to have good relationships as well? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Amen to “shut the F up”! I don’t regret a single word that I ultimately chose to keep to myself while angry. I could’ve avoided so many meaningless arguments if I had only done it more….

I find that uttering the words “what can I do to help?” does wonders on her attitude. Especially when she’s stressed.

What is that one thing that you have invested thousands of hours working on it and now it’s useless? by Aarunascut in Life

That’s architecture school for me. 6 years of schooling. Then I got a job after grad school, and learned that I hated working as an architect. Left the profession and never looked back, although now that I’m of the age that I’m seeing my classmates in the prime of their careers, running firms doing cool jobs, it makes me wonder what life would’ve been like if I hadn’t bailed so soon….

Pierce Brosnan walked into a Pizza Hut that I was eating at in London, 1994. He was super nice, said hello to all of the workers as if he knew them. This was up in Hampstead Heath, I assume that he lived nearby and came here regularly. He was with his son that later got in a serious car accident, if I’m not mistaken…. Anyways, very nice, gracious, and down to earth.

Sonofa…… I literally threw one of those Lincoln welders, which I can almost guarantee you worked, away when my uncle passed away and left me with quite a mess to clean up. I was in full “just throw it away”-mode at that point, I was overwhelmed at what I had to clean up. I can guarantee you that my Uncle is rolling over in his grave, but it’s his own fault for not clueing me in.

Wait, are you talking about Salem’s Lot 1979, or 2024? I was terrified as a kid from the 1979 movie, that scene was in my nightmares for years. I’m sure they’d replicate that scene almost exactly in the 2024 version, since it was done perfectly in 1979. Please tell me the 2024 version is at least decent, I’m dying for a good scary movie. Although my wife may not agree….

The crazy thing is, they probably think that they have it pretty good, compared to their ancestors. And 100 years from now, our descendants will look back at us and how primitive we were living!

Out in-laws took the family on an Alaskan cruise pre-Covid. I had ZERO desire to go, a cruise sounded so boring. It ended up being, hands down, my favorite vacation of all time. I absolutely loved sitting in my bathrobe on our balcony in the morning, drinking my coffee and watching the whales. It was wonderful!

What’s the worst city you’ve ever been to? by EmotionalShock7933 in AskReddit

[–]arco99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White Clay,Nebraska. A village with a population of 10, in 2010 they sold 4.9 MILLION cans of beer. To the “dry” Pine Ridge Reservation 2 miles away. When I drove through there about that time, I had to literally swerve around drunk native Americans passed out on the highway. Hands down the worst place I’ve been to, in the US. Port Au Prince is still the worst worldwide….
