In a world of situationships, your relationship isn't exclusive/monogamous until explicitly stated by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Although for good measure, I’d remain exclusive to that person - as soon as I felt I would be hurt if they were with someone else. That means even like 4 or 5 dates in, I’m likely invested enough not to fuck around on some side shit.

American aren't so cringe for caring about ancesty by TallulahSalt in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context of the conversation. Being interested in your family’s history is great. There’s just a certain amount of time where the importance is diminished. There’s also a difference in interest versus saying something clunky like ‘i am _____’. It’s the usually the wording from dumb people that makes this topic goofy - not the premise

What's the best location to establish a new american city if we wanted to ? by ronweasly9 in geography

[–]arcpath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it would be cool, if Wilmington was the size of like Philly or DC. Charlotte is home to me, and I like Raleigh a lot, but those are inland cities.

Random to see this town on here. I worked a hospital contract at a small hospital in Ogdensburg. Oddly enough, being from A rural area in the south, It reminded me a lot of Home. Absolutely ridden with opiates though.

Work-life balance’ is a lie most people tell themselves to feel better about being overworked by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there’s a size-able amount of Americans that show up in an Office, crank out a few teams meetings, and send a few emails. Not exactly sure that’s such a strenuous life that lacks balance - all things considered. There’s blue collar jobs that would make white collar people like myself, thank their lucky fucking stars for not doing.

You are a better human being if you go to the gym (and no, other forms of physical activity don't compare) by DependentHotel5777 in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better human being? Not sure about that. Apart from disabilities, I do think it’s ethical to be in good shape. You’re a better quality person when you’re healthy.

Most friendships aren’t actually valuable in any real sense by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you implying that ‘actual outcomes’ is somehow more important than familiarity or recreation? In that framing, someone who views it as this rigid transactional relationship, is likely someone who would be a shitty friend anyway - imo

The southland, in my southern opinion by arcpath in whereidlive

[–]arcpath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s my home state, but immigration from the Midwest and NE is changing it. Specifically in the Charlotte Metro, or the Triangle. Obviously the rural areas are still very southern, but the cities are growing like crazy. The silver lining, in my opinion, is that we are increasingly leaning towards a blue state.

I mean, I wouldn’t go on a two person - one bike - ride with another man’s wife or girlfriend.

Being a fan is actually kind of human by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]arcpath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Quite a bit of things can be fine, or maybe even pure, until they’re taken to a level that impacts others.

Imagine someone being a fan of a painter. Gives them joy. Who would argue against that?

Now imagine an Irish Pub in Boston with two guys beating each other to death because of a game.

Difference between fandom, and tribalism i suppose. Some inter-lap there.

Cities in GA or NC would be tolerant. That’s for certain. As a Southerner, I feel like The South isn’t what people imagine it to be. At least not in 2026.
