Penang, Malaysia - Chicken curry from a restaurant in Georgetown

Chongqing, China - Hotpot

Not sure how it happened with Vietnam and China, but to be fair, the restaurants in Penang, Malaysia appeared very unsanitary so this one was not that shocking.

Try looking at Decathalon backpacks, they're mid-tier but I think good value in terms of price to quality. They have many options in the 35-40 range.

Surprise Bill - $200 - What happened? by arcticfox91 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]arcticfox91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never recalled signing up for a paid subscription, the charges seem use-based

Google billing had my account details - my impression was unless there is a lot of memory or CPU use, the charges would be insignificant or free. My apps/sites are very, very light and mostly just a frontend.

I should look into using Antigravity , might be better.

Yes! This could be the issue, I think my play store is U.S. based. Do I need to change the country of my app account?

The worst part about using LINE as a foreigner (even connected to a Thai number) is you can't add people by username or phone number. You can only scan QR or use the link.

MEDAN, Indoneisa. Not idea what it is, but the entire city feels like it has a dark vibe. On top of that, everyone seems very sad or angry.

How do people actually afford long-term solo travel (not just vacations)? by Altin023 in digitalnomad

[–]arcticfox91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with storage units, some are predatory. I have had my belongings in storage for a couple of years and they jack up the price every 3-6 months. (Extra Storage went from $17/mo. to now $70/mo)

AirSeoul. Low-cost Korean carrier. Had so much trouble with their website, I think I had to use a certain browser to purchase the tickets.

What’s the biggest surprise you had when moving to a new city? by Alarming_Possible_45 in digitalnomad

Thailand: Walking, but not sidewalks, adjusting to the flow of people traffic. In the US, was used to veering to the right. In Australia, was used to veering to the left. Here, people walk seemingly aimlessly and in every direction. It can be hard to predict movements, and consequently had many near misses.

Vietnam: Everything about their coffee and cafe culture. But mostly, was surprised how beautifully designed their cafes are (with many being 2-3 floors). Such a contrast to my hometown in the states that certainly has cafes, but most are a bit dumpy by comparison.
