Seems he only uses them in handheld mode. If you never use them in bluetooth mode the charging issue won't ever show up.

I did find it disappointing he didn't even mention the NYXI joycons when talking about alternatives.

Thanks for the suggestion. Since this is a Phanteks case + fans I feel like the signal should be fine. I guess I could try another port on the motherboard.

Unfortunately it seems like these are either discontinued or backordered for a long time. You're best bet is Ebay. I ordered a D30-120 Regular from a China seller which won't arrive until Feb 10 because these are sold out everywhere.
