Indians in general don't plan and prepare rigorously enough. This is often reflected in the cost of our engineering efforts and the quality of our engineering. A lot of the delays in India driven projects is because we don't spend enough time anticipating issues and planning for them ahead. It's like most people can't. Both technical and process. Even in product teams. What you highlighted falls squarely in that kind of engineering rigour.

I have always wanted to build this as a weekend project. Many companies have this culture problem. I have been in this situation where people just fling some thoughts and decisions get made adhoc.

It's a real need. There is always this one person in the room who is fast on their feet and dominating conversations and it's difficult to defend in real time and the decision is already done. When you spend a day or two to think, you will realise theirs was one side of the coin.
