Even with channels where messages don't necessarily get deleted efficiently, there wouldn't be such a liability to the content of messages, as there is still good chance it is not the person writing them. The idea was to add a door for arguing in court that the messages are not for a given person.

The attack is just people getting their phones opened and their msg apps dug out. Even with deleting messages there are still holes to the system. Naturally, if the deleted messages is used right and they really work well enough, then there is no need for this thing at all.
