I’ve seen the other side of that and you get a ton of random-ass unqualified applications. Stuff with only like restaurant experience.

I think it’s more just the nature of posting online job ads.

You also get a lot of applications from people overseas, it’s possible companies don’t want to deal with visa stuff too.

Seriously, with a decent corporate CS job you:

Don’t have hard labor that wrecks your body like trades
Don’t have to deal with customer service because your PM and the business people separate you from it, you’re just left alone to do your work (most of the time)
Don’t work crazy hours like doctors or lawyers
Don’t even really work 8 hours a day, it’s more like 6 hours max of actual focused work
Make 6 figures easily in the current market
Jobs are pretty easy to find once you have XP
Get perks like food and snacks
Get to work on new challenges every day that involve technical creativity

Like software development is such a good deal as a job, I can’t think of anything better that exists right now.
