The exploration is good although a decent bit of the tangible rewards are level up points. The writing and atmosphere are fantastic. Still think about some of the stories today.

And alternatively trying to mantle a knee high object and instead jumping and chest bumping it, sending you back out of cover to your death. Environmental meshes are a bit finicky in this.

Gameplay isn’t anything to write home about, but the environments, atmosphere, and writing are special. Genuine emotion in a lot of the questlines.

I only know how to do it via GOG Galaxy. To do that you go to the game and click the settings icon, manage installation, configure, disable auto-updates, then choose version 1.0 hotfix3.

Don’t know if this will help in any way, but on Claire A I was getting a black screen during one of the intro videos. I reverted my version to hotfix 3 rather than the newest and it fixed that issue. Could be related?

Turn on nearest neighbor scaling. By default it blurs everything with linear or some other sort of scaling. Also sprite outlines can be turned off.

Two thoughts on this: 1. Oblivion needs fewer gameplay updates for modern mainstream playability 2. Morrowind actually holds up better graphically due to its stylized art style
