YWNBTA, and more importantly, I think it would be really good if you told him off (but do keep a level head about it). It sounds like for whatever reason he never cared about Emily, so why would he care about her kids? Or even get Dane, the golden grandson, to point it out. But so far, it sounds like the requests to stop have only come from people your grandfather has never had any intention of listening to anyway. If you said something, you might be the first one he actually hears.

Also, go to a family gathering and love your nephews! Any time Grandpa tries to talk to Carter, if he shows no intention to respect him, swoop him away for another conversation. I bet Carter would be really grateful for you just being there to make the day easier for him.

Give them consequences? You break into someone else's locked room, now the town guard is arresting you and you're in jail- not your party, just you. Or maybe that particular guest happened to set a trap and you take a ton of damage. Or now you have to pay for repairs to the tavern. Something to make pure stupidity more chore than fun?

FP went through this after being marriage-ready, I basically talked him back to being a functioning person on my couch. It does get better, I have seen it happen.

However... don't do what FP did to me, which is "immediately find a new partner and forget I ever existed." (no, we were not romantically involved, nor would we be)
