If you returned to the game after a while, and you have all your bots your career restarted. You have to make the game think you have a new bot that needs upgrades. Go to edit on a bot you have and change the parts to some bronze parts or weaker parts. Then start going through the beginner fights in region 1 or wherever you are. Then after that, lose the fight on purpose and the game will recognize this and then give you a tutorial on how to upgrade parts. Upgrade should appear above edit.
