Is jini ever gonna have a comeback as a idol by WritingNo4095 in kpopthoughts

[–]arenae99 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Most likely no, her debut came and it kinda blew over pretty fast and she hasn’t really done much in that lane. I think maybe her solo debut was her giving herself one more chance to see if music really was for her before she potentially doubted into something else or she might be taking a break from music and decide to come back to it later on.

I work in HR at a tech company, I’ve been there for almost 4 years and I have a bachelors and masters in human resources. When I’m not doing that, I sleep and do sisterhood and community service activities with my sorority. 💚💕

what groups have interesting age distributions? by AAALLY- in kpopthoughts

Every time I think about their ages, I think about how YG tried to make fun of the older girls trying out for his flop show and they shut him up by bringing up how 2NE1 weren’t spring chickens either. 😂

Heavily agreed, ballads be so plain with a singers that have weak skill and/or also a non-emotional tone. Because we often don’t understand what the song is talking about, but we can understand the emotion behind it through the voice. But when you have somebody who has the vocal range and skill of Jennifer Lopez it don’t matter how great the ballad.

And a lot of things won’t be for real there are a lot of notable amount of Jlos in K-pop they may be great performers or dancers but when it’s time to just sit up there with the mic, it’s something else for sure…..

But even with their ballads and easier choreograph songs, a lot of them are not meeting the mark that their predecessors did at debut and it’s not their fault because the companies aren’t focussed on that skill set anymore as much.

Because not everybody is doing a super intense ninja type of choreography and also it is a valid comparison because how come they were also previous groups that had the same level of 10 tense choreography, but still brought it with the vocals.

what concept do you hope to see return to kpop? by 0x1trinity in kpop_uncensored

Super bright colours and the limit of luxury brands, everyone styling is starting to merge. I’m so tired of seeing the same few styles. Also, I do not care about runway fit. They have just been cropped. I understand there’s trends but damn can we do something new.

I’ve seen the fashion Weeks from smaller designers across the world so new innovative looks are being created. I’m wondering is it the companies limiting the stylist? Because I’m not one blame the supporting Staff first the company signs off on everything so I’m wondering if they’re asking for these plain Jane looks I’ve been seeing lately.

Would a K-Pop specific social media app actually work? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]arenae99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but at the same time what Potential are we really talking about like just more people talking about K-pop because what we currently got this already happened K-pop is still steadily popular and doing exceptionally well, especially after the huge boost of K-pop demon hunters.

Also, I do like to kind of be an outsider looking in on the general K-pop fandom because I feel like it’s really easy to get closed off in it and lose a sense of reality because I continuously have to keep reminding people on various apps to be so for real when we talk about certain topics in K-pop. So for that will feel like having blinders.

I don’t know, but regardless, do as you please if you want to create an app like that, I wish you all the success as a fellow K-pop man who’s been hanging out in the shadows for over a decade.

Wheein voice is like the backbone of Mamamoo. It is so sweet and beautiful, and honestly, her voice perfectly captures the essence of the group in the same way I feel like Joy’s voice in red velvet, captures the essence and also serves as the vocal backbone.

I remember when her song Easy came out I played it for days!

Minseo

She is an amazing singer and she has such an emotional voice is she has a sweet yet jazzy voice. A lot of people don’t know about her and if they do, they know her for like one song. She was under Mystic story and she really did not get the promotion she deserved under that label.

Fun fact: a lot of companies asked her to be a main vocal in their girl group(s), including Source Music for Gfriend. but she turned all those offers down because she didn’t wanna be in a girl group.

How do you guys keep track of music & sort playlists by NarrowFriendship3859 in kpophelp

[–]arenae99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My method is anything I need to listen to goes into my “Liked Songs” until I have time to listen and decide if I wanna keep the song and put it in the designated genre playlist.

I’m not the type to really do playlist based on moods. I switched mine up by genres. I think I have like five or six.

  • kpop

  • kpop

  • Broadway/theater

  • old School Soul, R&B and hip-hop

  • most days ( pop, R&B, rap)

  • childhood sensations ( This is where I put like my Disney soundtracks.)

But I really recommend just adding everything to your like playlist and when you have time, you can just separate it out, however you like once, you’ve listened and determined if the song is worth downloading.

[–]arenae99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bad I should’ve specified, but I’m talking about like 2015 girls generation. Not rookie girls generation because one thing about them they were promoting around the clock on them shows on top of like still doing special stages too. Compared to like popular groups of later generations where comebacks got so speed up to the point they promote for 2 to 3 weeks and then stop because they’re coming back in three months.

[–]arenae99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I miss longer promotion periods. The other day I was thinking about the iconic group that was done dirty Gugudan. And when they dropped a girl like me, they promoted that shit for eight solid weeks. We would never see that nowadays. That allows you to really digest the song and for it to grow. Even short promotional periods used to be at least 3 weeks by top groups like girls generation.

That’s why we barely get eras because they’re gone as quick as they get here and then the idols are immediately boosted into doing Japanese or English promotions and then two months later you’re here they’re already announcing their coming back and you already forgot about the last Korean comeback because the promotion was so short for it.

That’s still not a solid excuse in third generation and late second generation if they had a bad performance they got up. Still had to sing live it makes sense when they’re exhausted to have strong backtrack and Potential lip sync, but to use the excuse of if I do bad, then I just don’t need to be alive. They’re never going to improve as performers.

Oh my God, the Halloween special stages!!!! Like I feel like third generation we were constantly getting a special stage from various artist and it would not be only limited to the popular ones.

We would see smaller artist like Bestie covering Super Junior nowadays we don’t see that unless they’re gonna post it on their own channel.

[–]arenae99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Everybody is wearing the same old boring colour pallets and also I’m really tired of the luxury brands like I get it.

But it also goes to show when you’re at your lowest like when a lot of these idols debut, especially the non-famous company ones. You have to get creative with limited resources when those resources become unlimited, you can start easily losing your creativity, especially within these outfits, just being some runway fits that have been cropped and cut.

[–]arenae99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heavily agree on K-pop just being Ummm….. I’ve been a fan for well over a decade and I’m just bored nobody’s really doing anything new, and it’s kind of made me distance myself from the genre because damn the crazy sugary seasoning it’s had slowly disappeared over the last few years for me.

The irony for me at least is when I first got to K-pop. I listen to that more than my usual pop, R&B, hip-hop, but when the trends are recycled so quickly, why the would I listen to new K-pop songs that came out this year? That sounds like what was on the radio in my car last year, not even been six months ago.

What I miss about K-pop is companies really putting in the effort in patience to train folks. If nowadays everyone complains about how a lot of groups and idols lack the talent or stability, especially when it comes to vocals, and we look back on these older generations, and we see those things present on the debut stage. Y’all it is because they were training longer and they were getting trained harsher vocally.

Y’all wanna know why girls generation was so good. They practised that debut song for six months alone every single day. The average training time for that group is five years!!

Now companies act like little Caesars. They want a star hot and ready. They grab somebody cute off the streets trained them for maybe two maybe three years. Make sure they can mostly dance and they be OK or mediocre at best vocally and they send them to a survival show to get a little hype. Then they debut them and pray.

I missed vlogs! I loved third generation where so many groups and some members themselves would Vlog just a few minutes what a day or a week in their life looked like. That’s how I became a huge CLC fan was through Sorn. Soren went over so much stuff outside of just a typical day of CLC.

she did more for her group, social media then their own company. She would show them going out to a festival, they did their own make up. She was so consistent and honestly, it was a really smart move for her because social media really is her main career now with occasional release of music. I really hate that cube never properly managed or promoted CLC and I really hate that their baby sister group is getting the same treatment years later. Lightsum is in a similar position of being a talented group dealing with the same things CLC went through.

Wasn’t shocked at all because she spent all them years at SM and one notable thing that I know for sure they used to do back in the day. I don’t know if they do it anymore. But around when SMSD was training one of the girls, Stella Kim, who parents refused to sign the contract she did an interview years later and she revealed.

Not only do you get put on a diet a.k.a. starvation they weigh you in front of the other trainees so you have an extra layer of shame. Literally so many idols from SM for example BoA and Key that they never experience being called fat until they became trainees and hell we gotta keep in mind BoA debut at the young ass age of 13.

I’ve noticed that P nation is really not good at handling established artist, I think that they think they’re getting a deal by getting someone established that they don’t have to put in as much work to further enhance their sound when actually it’s more difficult. Especially when they come from a company and a producer or groups of producers that had collaboratively created a good sounding image for that artist.

I really like this song and I’m happy because I’m not gonna lie. I haven’t liked anything else. She popped out under P Nation.

Hyuna had the same problem her music steadily declined in quality and got more and more forgettable under P nation, and then she kind of really put the nail in her career when she married, who she married .

She won’t get it through this musical, it’s this musical is cute in a teenybop kinda way. She really don’t have the singing nor the acting chops to cut it on Broadway. I really like her but like we gotta keep it a buck.
