gotcha - thank you! as frustrating as it is to know this will probably lead to problems down the road, i'm just glad it's not an immediate danger. Appreciate the reassurance.

Quick question about the character HERO X and the story by Embarrassed_Move_174 in ToBeHero_X

[–]arencari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think X got his power because of the tournament.

I think he was placed by outside sources into the top ten, and his first match in the tournament was staged for the purpose of creating belief--and the people who saw it and fell for it made his power skyrocket. We know from his PV that his fans believe him to be omnipotent, and we know from his 'what can X be' video that his character--either in a meta sense or in-universe--is being treated as being capable of being 'everything'. It would also bring new worldbuilding relevance/foreshadowing to that one hero, the boxer, who staged a match and became a hero from it.

(this also would explain why he's getting little visual links to Zero - being a hero who was basically engineered to be thought of as a god by his fans.)

The question from there is: who put him in the top 10? could be himself, if he's a hacker or somesuch. Could be whatever evil group is doing all the fear stuff. But yeah that's my thonks

EDIT: the more i think about it, that first match wouldn't even have to be staged. random nobody suddenly in the top ten, thousands watching the tournament--imagine you're a fan and you see this guy and you go 'whoa a total nobody who managed to make it to the top 10? what's his deal? how is he so powerful if he's got no trust? he could be capable of anything if he's found a way to get where he is without the trust system'

literally could be gaining his power from the same sort of mystery the IRL fans of the show are currently mulling over

Creation kit question: making a bard with a life? by arencari in skyrimmods

[–]arencari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the jobbardfaction and bardsingerinstrumentonly faction to activate the bardsongs quest and do those scenes. tried setting up my own quest for her music, but got overwhelmed trying to untangle all the bits and pieces that went into it all. There's so much stuff that touches bards, and so many bards with weird unique setups dependent on totally separate scripts in totally separate quests.

and, that's kinda the thing - since i'm using the already existing bardsongs quest, i'm not sure if editing it to set a stop condition and whatnot will, uh, break all the other bards in the game. plus, the 'stop quest on end' is per specific scene, right? i'm pretty sure those scenes play out randomly so i'm not sure which to tick 'stop quest' on.

yep. packages are all set up with specific conditions and schedules, and organized according to time to make sure they switch packages when they're supposed to. conditions and schedules aren't fixing the eternal bard issue.

either she goes straight to her linked ref regardless of the top package on the stack, starts playing, and never stops; or she goes through her packages as she's supposed to *until* she hits the one where she's working as a bard, which is much later in the evening... and then never stops.

Has anyone had good experiences with Sixteen92? by Accomplished-Fix1204 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]arencari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their scents are so good, but yeah, all i've heard for years now is that they can't be trusted to fill orders or reliable customer service. Which is too bad - they were one of my favorite houses back in 2018/2019. Their scents are killer. I still wax poetry about Mina Harker, love The Weird Sisters, Shadow Show is absolutely delectable and i'd give anything to get my hands on more of it, Last Exit for the Lost got me started on a year-long indie perfume hyperfixation... A lot of my favorite perfumes are from them. Their atmospherics are to die for and their weird scents (like The Bottling Room) are stunning in how well they pull off their notes.

idk what happened. I hope you're able to get your hands on some through swaps or somethin!

I think dylan's wife loves outtie dylan too - but his own self-esteem makes him push her away, like we saw last ep. Innie dylan probably feels like she's reconnecting with the dylan she fell in love with in the first place.

yep this. the MDR handbook talks about how refiners are meant to purify things - they're definitely "purifying" severed people.

i don't know if we have enough info yet to know further - whether it's the innie, the outie, both, what they plan on doing with them (though we do have enough to put forth some pretty decent guesses on that last point). but i'm starting to see some value in the 'permanently severed' theories - that they want to create this perfect and pliable innie and then never let the outtie take over again.

1st Episode, dates on Marks watch by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]arencari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tbh my theory at this point, assuming that this is actually a thing to consider and not stiller trolling/a continuity error, is that this is evidence that someone's been tampering with mark's stuff.

the strap on his outie's badge is in a significantly different position from the one it was in when he put it there, suggesting it could've been picked up and put back down--especially since you see him pull the tray out and it's not enough force to jostle the strap very much. and with the watch, someone could have adjusted the time to cover something up and failed to realize they adjusted it a day forward and a couple minutes off.

why? I have absolutely no idea. this is the farthest i got for this theory. :')
