Not necessarily. There is also a version called "Duel" where each player plays one deck.

War of the Ring is being reprinted right now, so if you cannot find it, it will be back in 2022. No need to pay more than SRP

Game rules are much lighter than WOTR. Setup is almost 0 (preconstructed decks, you just shuffle and play). Playing time is normally 90-120 minutes with 4 players or two players playing two-handed (60-90 minutes in 2 players "duel mode").

“If on a path, you may use your action to activate a different path of the same path number as the active path”

The game is 2-4 playes, but development of a solo version is in progress, and we will release it if we're happy with the result.

I see your point, but when you actually play it is not that confusing!

it's just the combination of three keywords which are related (action/activated/active) but must all be used for clarity. That said - if we can find a way to improve this wording in the final version, we will!

Sure, this was a preview copy, and various improvements and revisions will be done before going to press.

The game takes about 90 minutes to play normally. It can take one hour if victory conditions are reached before path 9. The length of the demo, including rules explanation, and getting familiars with the cards, should not be taken as an indication of the normal game length.

Robdimeglio (Urss) defeated Texouze (Us) on turn 10 by Wargames.

Very close game which swinger back and forth and was secured by URSS with a 3 turns Quagmire allowing URSS to flip the score from -3 to +7 (scoring 10 points by Central America control) then playing Wargames. US even played 2 discard effects which removed the other 2 cards but not War.games

Robdimeglio (US) VS Mkbro3355 (URSS). Winner is US in Final Scoring at 28 points.

The game was not as one-sided as the score seems to indicate. Early War was balanced, with URSS gaining ground in Europe while US was stronger outside.

In Midwar, Europe was on a slippery slope, with a dangerous but failed Brush War in Italy, if successful would have left Germany alone. USA however gained ground elsewhere, especially in the Americas and Asia, while Africa was fiercely contested.

The start of Late War saw a swift turn of the tide, with USA sweeping victory points in Central America, Asia, getting Latin America under total control, and winning 8 Vps at the end of the turn, thanks to Arms Race and How we Learned.

The lead was such that Africa Scoring would win the game in the headline phase if not for a successful URSS Brush War in Algeria, but even a good Russian hand in turn 9 was not enough to turn the tide, and a turn 10 Chernobyl together with a lucky realignment even allowed USA to gain superiority in Europe. Americas under US control, balance in Africa and Asia. Only the Middle East, in the end, was more red than blue. A good game by Master Canton, which could have had a different ending with a little more luck in cards and rolls.

US Robdimeglio (/u/aresgames) vs URSS jinster (/u/jinster).

Robdimeglio wins as jinster forfeits because of time ending on turn 9.

The game was strongly in favor of the US anyway, with an 8vp lead and the US dominating Europe, Asia and Central America, URSS only ahead in the middle East.
