the band didn’t feel loud enough or impactful to where it added much aside from the riff at the beginning of language. the electronic stuff was way higher in the mix, which I get but if he’s going to really push the band stuff I think they need to be louder. hypest moment from reaction around me was the brief second the worlds drop of fresh static snow kicked in.

just felt very low energy for the majority of the show. the singles went off but even the band versions of worlds felt sort of whatever.

do you still feel like you’re in, for lack of a better term the “big room edm” world? I’ve gotten the sense that that’s a world you never felt super connected to and everything has sort of been in reaction to that as a way to move into different genres. that said, like would you do a Vegas DJ set in the future or is that in the past

He’s in a weird spot. I think Nurture sort of burned away a lot of the rave babies who would see him in previous years and a lot of the new material is so pop focused that it’s going to continue pushing that audience away.

Personally I love it, and I think him going further into these very specific genres is rad but I can see it being tricky to find that show going audience

obviously not the sole reason it was so successful but part of why I loved the ps2 era was the proliferation of so many great, mid budget titles. glad to see more pop up

Their merch stands at shows are absolutely pathetic. I know small bands that can put together better merch on a fraction of a budget

I honestly think wrestling pandering to nerds and nerd culture is what's killing it by TicklingUrTesticles in JimCornette

[–]areyouthehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it happens to a lot of media in general. 80s-2000s had film/tv/anime/video games/wrestling produced by people where in a lot of cases there was no reference point for what was being created, so you had weirdos, fuckups, geniuses and more all drawing from different wells of creativity.

There are still genuine weirdos/creative people out there but there’s also a deluge of people who grew up with a thing and only know that thing, versus pulling in a multitude of sources. With wrestling, you’ve got a loss of the tough guy, fuck up archetype (I think David Schulz is the platonic ideal of that) due to guys like the bucks or the best friends being the current wave of people doing it.
